Speed up automated tests by downloading the relatively large (~250MB)
Fedora kernel and initrd from an in-region partial mirror (that
contains only those files).
Use a templated URL since other approaches (such as a multi-region
access point, or CloudFront) either require signed requests or are
significantly slower than direct S3 access.
The partial mirror is configured using cross-region replication to
mirror the required test files (i.e. the vmlinuz and initrd.img files
for both x86_64 and aarch64), with an S3 gateway configured within
each region to grant access to the mirrored files.
The default mirrors are not directly accessible from the outside
world, or by other users. Since the path structure matches the
standard Fedora repository, users can specify a public mirror using
e.g.
../contrib/cloud/aws-test \
--mirror http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/44 \
...instance type list...

-
boot from a web server via HTTP or HTTPS,
-
boot from an iSCSI, FCoE, or AoE SAN,
-
control the boot process with a script,
You can use iPXE to replace the existing PXE ROM on your network card, or you can chainload into iPXE to obtain the features of iPXE without the hassle of reflashing.
iPXE is free, open-source software licensed under the GNU GPL (with some portions under GPL-compatible licences).
You can download the rolling release binaries (built from the latest commit), or use the most recent stable release.
