Michael Brown a03f9eda42 [peerdist] Use separate discovery probe message IDs for IPv4 and IPv6
The SOAP-over-UDP specification states that for each retransmission
the value of the message ID property must be the same. We currently
use a single (weakly) random message ID for all transmissions used to
discover a given segment.

Experiments suggest that Windows performs some deduplication of probe
messages and will respond to either the IPv4 or the IPv6 probe but not
to both, if they arrive with the same message ID in quick succession.
This undermines our attempt to prefer IPv4 peers: we can quite easily
end up receiving only IPv6 discovery responses.

Treat the IPv4 and IPv6 discovery probes as separate messages: use a
(trivially) different message ID for each address family but then
retain that message ID for each retransmission as per the spec.

iPXE network bootloader

Build Coverity Release

iPXE is the leading open source network boot firmware. It provides a full PXE implementation enhanced with additional features such as:

  • boot from a web server via HTTP or HTTPS,

  • boot from an iSCSI, FCoE, or AoE SAN,

  • control the boot process with a script,

  • create interactive forms and menus.

You can use iPXE to replace the existing PXE ROM on your network card, or you can chainload into iPXE to obtain the features of iPXE without the hassle of reflashing.

iPXE is free, open-source software licensed under the GNU GPL (with some portions under GPL-compatible licences).

You can download the rolling release binaries (built from the latest commit), or use the most recent stable release.

For full documentation, visit the iPXE website.
