an equality comparison with a column from an outer query does not work
if there is an affinity mismatch between the two columns.  This is a
follow-on to check-in [16aed5d0c63dcdc2] and a fix for
[bugs:/info/2026-08-23T01:02:14Z|Bug 2026-08-23T01:02:14Z].
