Summary: Pull Request resolved: https://github.com/facebook/rocksdb/pull/15027 `BackgroundPurgeCFDropTest` blocks `DBImpl::BGWorkPurge:start` to verify dropped-CF files remain until background purge is released. Runtime OPTIONS-file cleanup can also schedule a purge on the HIGH pool when `avoid_unnecessary_blocking_io` is enabled, so installing the sync-point dependency before test setup can park that OPTIONS purge before the foreground `Flush()` has a chance to run. This does not need a broader product change. Runtime OPTIONS-file writes are rare, and the hard deadlock is a test artifact caused by the sync-point dependency. Outside the test, the observable impact would be limited to a foreground `Flush()` API call waiting longer if its flush is queued behind the OPTIONS-file purge. Scope the sync-point dependency to the behavior under test by installing it only for the background-purge case, after the setup flush has produced the SST and just before `DropColumnFamily()`. This keeps setup-side OPTIONS-file purge work outside the blocked window while still verifying that dropped-CF file deletion waits for background purge. RocksDB: A Persistent Key-Value Store for Flash and RAM Storage
RocksDB is developed and maintained by Facebook Database Engineering Team. It is built on earlier work on LevelDB by Sanjay Ghemawat (sanjay@google.com) and Jeff Dean (jeff@google.com)
This code is a library that forms the core building block for a fast key-value server, especially suited for storing data on flash drives. It has a Log-Structured-Merge-Database (LSM) design with flexible tradeoffs between Write-Amplification-Factor (WAF), Read-Amplification-Factor (RAF) and Space-Amplification-Factor (SAF). It has multi-threaded compactions, making it especially suitable for storing multiple terabytes of data in a single database.
