Summary: **What**: Fix an out-of-bounds read and a forged end timestamp in the timestamped `SstFileWriter::DeleteRange()` overload. **How**: - `Rep::DeleteRange()` now builds each boundary through a new `Rep::AppendTimestamp()` helper, which tests one key's adjacency to `timestamp` and either aliases the two or materializes `key + timestamp` into a caller-owned buffer. - Drops the fast path's `assert`. It was never a guard: it performed the same out-of-bounds read it was meant to police, and `DeleteRangeImpl()` already asserts the two boundary timestamps match. - Behavior change for callers whose two keys each carry their own trailing timestamp: they now take one extra copy. Aliasing is still used for whichever key is genuinely adjacent. **Why**: A single `timestamp` buffer can be byte-adjacent to at most one of two distinct keys, but the old branch tested `end_key` using `begin_key`'s length and then widened both slices whenever either test passed - so an asymmetric caller, one key contiguous with the timestamp and the other bare, read past an allocation and persisted a range tombstone carrying foreign heap bytes as its end timestamp. Nothing forbids that layout: the public contract requires only that the keys carry no timestamp. RocksDB: A Persistent Key-Value Store for Flash and RAM Storage
RocksDB is developed and maintained by Facebook Database Engineering Team. It is built on earlier work on LevelDB by Sanjay Ghemawat (sanjay@google.com) and Jeff Dean (jeff@google.com)
This code is a library that forms the core building block for a fast key-value server, especially suited for storing data on flash drives. It has a Log-Structured-Merge-Database (LSM) design with flexible tradeoffs between Write-Amplification-Factor (WAF), Read-Amplification-Factor (RAF) and Space-Amplification-Factor (SAF). It has multi-threaded compactions, making it especially suitable for storing multiple terabytes of data in a single database.
Start with example usage here: https://github.com/facebook/rocksdb/tree/main/examples
See the github wiki for more explanation.
The public interface is in include/. Callers should not include or
rely on the details of any other header files in this package. Those
internal APIs may be changed without warning.
