Summary: Pull Request resolved: https://github.com/facebook/rocksdb/pull/14951 The `build-macos-cmake` CI job intermittently but persistently fails during `make` with: GoogleTestAddTests.cmake:... (parse_tests_from_json) * Line 1, Column 1 Syntax error: value, object or array expected. make: *** [all] Error 2 This is `gtest_discover_tests` running in its default POST_BUILD mode: it executes each freshly-built test binary during the parallel `-j` build to enumerate test cases as JSON. On the resource-constrained arm64 macOS runners, that discovery run competes with the in-flight compile jobs and can produce empty output, which CMake's JSON parser then rejects, aborting the whole build. The failing targets (e.g. `cache_reservation_manager_test`, `lru_cache_test`) are unrelated to whatever change is under test -- other test binaries in the same run discover fine -- confirming it is a build-phase discovery race, not a code defect. Switch discovery to `DISCOVERY_MODE PRE_TEST` so enumeration happens at ctest time (serially, after the build) instead of during the parallel build. This keeps the build green while preserving full test discovery. `PRE_TEST` requires CMake >= 3.18, so it is guarded by a version check; on older CMake (the project's declared minimum is 3.12) behavior is unchanged. RocksDB: A Persistent Key-Value Store for Flash and RAM Storage
RocksDB is developed and maintained by Facebook Database Engineering Team. It is built on earlier work on LevelDB by Sanjay Ghemawat (sanjay@google.com) and Jeff Dean (jeff@google.com)
This code is a library that forms the core building block for a fast key-value server, especially suited for storing data on flash drives. It has a Log-Structured-Merge-Database (LSM) design with flexible tradeoffs between Write-Amplification-Factor (WAF), Read-Amplification-Factor (RAF) and Space-Amplification-Factor (SAF). It has multi-threaded compactions, making it especially suitable for storing multiple terabytes of data in a single database.
