98a20231fc ap_start_shutdown is not used by anybody outside of the MPMs, so we don't
need to put it in the ap_mpm.h header file. This also makes all of the
instances of ap_start_shutdown static.

b5440c348a Force all Apache functions to be linked into the executable, whether they
are used or not. This uses the same mechanism that is used for APR
and APR-util. This may not be the correct solution, but it works, and that
is what I really care about. This also renames CHARSET_EBCDIC to
AP_CHARSET_EBCDIC. This is for namespace correctness, but it also makes
the exports script a bit easier.

c17ef15818 API routines ap_pgethostbyname() and ap_pduphostent() are no longer
available.  Use apr_getaddrinfo() instead.

The ap_pduphostent() code was moved to modules/proxy/proxy_util.c for
now since that is the only caller. When the proxy's use of the
resolver is APR-ized this won't be needed anymore.

b43e31de42 tweak the responsibilities of make_sock() and alloc_listener()
because we need to resolve the hostname (i.e., call apr_getaddrinfo())
before creating the socket so that we get a socket of the appropriate
family

also, simplify some of the address displays in some error logs

290df5f182 move closer to IPv6 support by changing the server_addr_rec
representation of the bound address to something which handles
IPv6; this also allows us to switch to APR resolver routines
in places instead of calling gethostbyname() and gethostbyaddr()
directly

Issues remaining with this set of changes:

1) apr_snprintf()'s %pA formatting needs to change to take
apr_sockaddr_t * instead of sockaddr_in * -OR- just get rid
   of that type of formatting
2) apr_get_inaddr() is no longer used and should be removed

348b5f2ecb Axe ap_get_virthost_addr(). This <address>[:port] parse routine
is not used anymore and it doesn't handle IPv6, so it is best to
drop it. If/when mod_tls (Netware) is ported to 2.0 it can use
apr_parse_addr_port().

b5de155f2a *) fix up buildexports.sh:
- enable it to be run from any dir by passing a parameter for the
location of srclib, and using its own location for determining where
     the AWK script is located
   - accept exports files on STDIN, and produce output on STDOUT
   - use "pwd" and cd back to it, rather than assuming ../../.. (which might
not apply if we feed it other export files)
   - add USAGE reporting

*) generate exports.c during normal build of "server" rather than during the
buildconf stage. update invocation to match above changes

*) revamp the ap_ugly_hack referencing in main.c: put it at the bottom of
the file with the other, similar references, and style it similarly.

*) remove the ap_ugly_hack declaration from http_main.h; it is internal to
   the "server" code

3815aef2ee This solves two issues, one is a backref from apr-util into the
apache namespace, and the second is the proper linkage declarations
and their explanations. Documented the distinction between
  AP_IMPLEMENT_HOOK_ and AP_IMPLEMENT_EXPORT_HOOK_

This doesn't resolve any export issues within apr-util, however.

4c8baf6170 Get rid of ap_new_apr_connection(). ap_new_connection() now has
fewer parameters: the local and remote socket addresses were removed
from the parameter list because all required information is available
via the APR socket.

I haven't tested the most important part -- the WinNT MPM changes
-- but it compiles and it looks okay :) If the WinNT MPM works on
Win98 these days let me know.

656a5d3081 Use "const char * const *" for process->argv (which is the correct
const-ness since we sometimes put "some string" in there, and also the CRT's
argv). propagate this change within http_main and mpm/winnt/ (also correct
some other const type usage within the MPM).

fix ab's call to parse_url() which removed a const to actually manipulate an
arg from the CRT's argv (indirectly via opt->arg). no idea how this has
avoided segfaulting.

02f60b7ea4 Allow modules to specify the first module for a sub-request. This allows
modules to not have to muck with the output_filter after it creates the
sub-request. Without this change, modules that create a sub-request have
to manually edit the output_filters, and therefore skip the sub-request
output_filter. If they skip the sub-request output_filter, then we end
up sending multiple EOS buckets to the core_output_filter.

798d259441 Modify the content-length filter to change the criteria used to determine
if/when we compute the content-length. There are just a few cases now:

        1) We already have all the data
        2) We don't have all the data and:
2a) This is a 1.1 request but we can't chunk
                2b) The is a keep-alive request
In the future, we probably want to modify this to not
	    be a keep-alive request.

This filter always buffers 9K of data. The reason is simple, the core will
buffer 9K at a time anyway, and there is a chance that we may get the end
of the request before we hit 9K. This increases our chances of being able
to send a c-l.

16d27f0da6 The byte-ranges filter. This looks like it should work, but the
Acrobat plug-in doesn't like it for some reason. This does work better
than what we currently have, because at least it returns all of the
requested data. This basically removes all BUFFs from the byte-range
code and removes all of the byte-range code from the default-handler.

Byte-ranges are now handled by a filter, which makes sense, and it allows
us to handle byte-ranges for all requests, not just files.

4b1eefe1f4 Clean up the http filter a lot. Instead of sending a bucket per header,
we now create a single bucket that has all of the headers and send that.
One known issue is that this limits the headers to 8k, but it is a minor
patch to fix that.

This also stops us from exporting ap_send_header_field. This function no
longer makes sense to export.
