This PR resolves a segmentation fault (SIGSEGV) that occurs during application shutdown, specifically within the logging subsystem.

Under signal-triggered termination (e.g. SIGINT via CTRL-C), the application could crash while tearing down logging resources. The failure was traced to unsafe destructor ordering and concurrent access to logging internals during shutdown.

* Fix logging shutdown behaviour to ensure that all buffered log messages are flushed and the logging thread exits cleanly.
* Replace exit(...) with _Exit(...) when terminating the application from exitViaSignalHandler() after a signal-driven shutdown.
* Add smoke test badge
