Support for 32-bit i386 is gradually fading away across the ecosystem. It is reasonably common to encounter devices with 64-bit MMIO BARs in systems that place these BARs above the 32-bit address space. These devices cannot be used by a 32-bit build of iPXE. The default binaries published in both the rolling release and the tagged releases are already x86_64 rather than i386. The only remaining trace of the 32-bit default is the unadorned "bin/" build directory prefix, which is currently interpreted as being equivalent to "bin-i386-pcbios/".
