Set up Python application
In this step you will install the Docker Cloud CLI. This provides you access to the Docker Cloud Command Line Interface tool.
Linux & Windows
Open your Terminal application and execute the following command:
$ pip install docker-cloud
Mac
The recommended installation for OS X is using Homebrew. If you don’t have brew installed, you can learn how to install it here: http://brew.sh, or paste the following command in a terminal prompt.
ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)"
Once Homebrew is installed, type the following:
$ brew install docker-cloud
Check Docker Cloud CLI is installed
Check that it has installed correctly:
$ docker-cloud -v
1.0.2
Once installed you can use the docker-cloud command from your command shell.
Login
Log in to the CLI using the username and password you used when creating your Docker Cloud account:
$ docker-cloud login
Username: python-user
Password:
Login succeeded!
You must log in to continue this tutorial.
Set your username as an environment variable
For simplicity’s sake, this tutorial uses an environment variable for your Docker Cloud username. If you want to be able to copy and paste the tutorial commands without editing them to change the username, set the environment variable using the command below. (Change python-user to your username.)
$ export DOCKER_ID_USER=python-user
Find the documentation for the Docker Cloud CLI tool and API here.
Next: Prepare the app.
