BUG#23051 (READ COMMITTED breaks mixed and statement-based
replication): Patch to add binlog format capabilities to the InnoDB storage engine. The engine will not allow statement format logging when in READ COMMITTED or READ UNCOMMITTED transaction isolation level. In addition, an error is generated when trying to use READ COMMITTED or READ UNCOMMITTED transaction isolation level in STATEMENT binlog mode. sql/handler.h: Adding declaration of already global arrays. sql/share/errmsg.txt: Adding error messages for invalid changes of transaction isolation level and binlog mode switch. Removing messages that are not needed any more (this cset it pushed together with the cset that introduced these messages, so it is safe to remove the messages). sql/sql_base.cc: Some changes to error reporting code to get more informative messages. storage/innobase/handler/ha_innodb.cc: Adding capabilities to storage engine. Ha_innobase:table_flags() now compute flags on a per-statement basis and the statement capabilities flag is just set if the transaction isolation level is below READ COMMITTED. specific - adding TRN::first_undo_lsn, needed to know when a log can be deleted; this variable must be set under log's mutex and that leads to setting TRN::rec_lsn, TRN::undo_lsn and TRN::first_undo_lsn in a inwrite_rec_hook; adding implementation of one hook for REDOs and one for UNDOs. Thus translog_write_record() always uses TRN and so does not need a short_id argument, can find it from TRN. - Monty's patch for the last Valgrind error in the tree. - Log handler's unit tests fail but Sanja says it's known include/Makefile.am: pagecache.h moved and renamed include/maria.h: pagecache.h moved and renamed sql/handler.h: pagecache.h moved and renamed storage/maria/Makefile.am: pagecache.h moved and renamed storage/maria/ha_maria.cc: adding an assertion which sounds logical storage/maria/ma_blockrec.c: trn->rec_lsn and trn->undo_lsn are now set via hooks inside the log record's writing; this allows to also set trn->first_undo_lsn needed to compute the log's low-water mark. Moving code to cache table flags so that table flags are read from the storage engine at the beginning of the statement in addition to when the storage engine is opened. To handle CREATE-SELECT, the decision function is called after the table is created and it is called with all tables that are in the select part of the statement as well as the newly created table. sql/handler.cc: Changing code to cache table flags on a per-statement basis. 5.1 version of fix for:
Bug #23667 "CREATE TABLE LIKE is not isolated from alteration by other connections" Bug #18950 "CREATE TABLE LIKE does not obtain LOCK_open" As well as: Bug #25578 "CREATE TABLE LIKE does not require any privileges on source table". The first and the second bugs resulted in various errors and wrong binary log order when one tried to execute concurrently CREATE TABLE LIKE statement and DDL statements on source table or DML/DDL statements on its target table. The problem was caused by incomplete protection/table-locking against concurrent statements implemented in mysql_create_like_table() routine. We solve it by simply implementing such protection in proper way. Most of actual work for 5.1 was already done by fix for bug 20662 and preliminary patch changing locking in ALTER TABLE. The third bug allowed user who didn't have any privileges on table create its copy and therefore circumvent privilege check for SHOW CREATE TABLE. This patch solves this problem by adding privilege check, which was missing. Finally it also removes some duplicated code from mysql_create_like_table() and thus fixes bug #26869 "TABLE_LIST::table_name_length inconsistent with TABLE_LIST::table_name". mysql-test/r/create-big.result: Added test coverage for concurrency-related issues with CREATE TABLE LIKE. mysql-test/r/create.result: Adjusted error-code in the test case after refactoring code that implements CREATE TABLE ... WL#3817: Simplify string / memory area types and make things more consistent (first part)
The following type conversions was done:
- Changed byte to uchar
- Changed gptr to uchar*
- Change my_string to char *
- Change my_size_t to size_t
- Change size_s to size_t
Removed declaration of byte, gptr, my_string, my_size_t and size_s.
Following function parameter changes was done:
- All string functions in mysys/strings was changed to use size_t
instead of uint for string lengths.
- All read()/write() functions changed to use size_t (including vio).
- All protocoll functions changed to use size_t instead of uint
- Functions that used a pointer to a string length was changed to use size_t*
- Changed malloc(), free() and related functions from using gptr to use void *
as this requires fewer casts in the code and is more in line with how the
standard functions work.
- Added extra length argument to dirname_part() to return the length of the
created string.
- Changed (at least) following functions to take uchar* as argument:
- db_dump()
- my_net_write()
- net_write_command()
- net_store_data()
- DBUG_DUMP()
- decimal2bin() & bin2decimal()
- Changed my_compress() and my_uncompress() to use size_t. Changed one
argument to my_uncompress() from a pointer to a value as we only return
one value (makes function easier to use).
- Changed type of 'pack_data' argument to packfrm() to avoid casts.
- Changed in readfrm() and writefrom(), ha_discover and handler::discover()
the type for argument 'frmdata' to uchar** to avoid casts.
- Changed most Field functions to use uchar* instead of char* (reduced a lot of
casts).
- Changed field->val_xxx(xxx, new_ptr) to take const pointers.
Other changes:
- Removed a lot of not needed casts
- Added a few new cast required by other changes
- Added some cast to my_multi_malloc() arguments for safety (as string lengths
needs to be uint, not size_t).
- Fixed all calls to hash-get-key functions to use size_t*. (Needed to be done
explicitely as this conflict was often hided by casting the function to
hash_get_key).
- Changed some buffers to memory regions to uchar* to avoid casts.
- Changed some string lengths from uint to size_t.
- Changed field->ptr to be uchar* instead of char*. This allowed us to
get rid of a lot of casts.
- Some changes from true -> TRUE, false -> FALSE, unsigned char -> uchar
- Include zlib.h in some files as we needed declaration of crc32()
- Changed MY_FILE_ERROR to be (size_t) -1.
- Changed many variables to hold the result of my_read() / my_write() to be
size_t. This was needed to properly detect errors (which are
returned as (size_t) -1).
- Removed some very old VMS code
- Changed packfrm()/unpackfrm() to not be depending on uint size
(portability fix)
- Removed windows specific code to restore cursor position as this
causes slowdown on windows and we should not mix read() and pread()
calls anyway as this is not thread safe. Updated function comment to
reflect this. Changed function that depended on original behavior of
my_pwrite() to itself restore the cursor position (one such case).
- Added some missing checking of return value of malloc().
- Changed definition of MOD_PAD_CHAR_TO_FULL_LENGTH to avoid 'long' overflow.
- Changed type of table_def::m_size from my_size_t to ulong to reflect that
m_size is the number of elements in the array, not a string/memory
length.
- Moved THD::max_row_length() to table.cc (as it's not depending on THD).
Inlined max_row_length_blob() into this function.
- More function comments
- Fixed some compiler warnings when compiled without partitions.
- Removed setting of LEX_STRING() arguments in declaration (portability fix).
- Some trivial indentation/variable name changes.
- Some trivial code simplifications:
- Replaced some calls to alloc_root + memcpy to use

WL#3817: Simplify string / memory area types and make things more consistent (first part)
The following type conversions was done:
- Changed byte to uchar
- Changed gptr to uchar*
- Change my_string to char *
- Change my_size_t to size_t
- Change size_s to size_t
Removed declaration of byte, gptr, my_string, my_size_t and size_s.
Following function parameter changes was done:
- All string functions in mysys/strings was changed to use size_t
instead of uint for string lengths.
- All read()/write() functions changed to use size_t (including vio).
- All protocoll functions changed to use size_t instead of uint
- Functions that used a pointer to a string length was changed to use size_t*
- Changed malloc(), free() and related functions from using gptr to use void *
as this requires fewer casts in the code and is more in line with how the
standard functions work.
- Added extra length argument to dirname_part() to return the length of the
created string.
- Changed (at least) following functions to take uchar* as argument:
- db_dump()
- my_net_write()
- net_write_command()
- net_store_data()
- DBUG_DUMP()
- decimal2bin() & bin2decimal()
- Changed my_compress() and my_uncompress() to use size_t. Changed one
argument to my_uncompress() from a pointer to a value as we only return
one value (makes function easier to use).
- Changed type of 'pack_data' argument to packfrm() to avoid casts.
- Changed in readfrm() and writefrom(), ha_discover and handler::discover()
the type for argument 'frmdata' to uchar** to avoid casts.
- Changed most Field functions to use uchar* instead of char* (reduced a lot of
casts).
- Changed field->val_xxx(xxx, new_ptr) to take const pointers.
Other changes:
- Removed a lot of not needed casts
- Added a few new cast required by other changes
- Added some cast to my_multi_malloc() arguments for safety (as string lengths
needs to be uint, not size_t).
- Fixed all calls to hash-get-key functions to use size_t*. (Needed to be done
explicitely as this conflict was often hided by casting the function to
hash_get_key).
- Changed some buffers to memory regions to uchar* to avoid casts.
- Changed some string lengths from uint to size_t.
- Changed field->ptr to be uchar* instead of char*. This allowed us to
get rid of a lot of casts.
- Some changes from true -> TRUE, false -> FALSE, unsigned char -> uchar
- Include zlib.h in some files as we needed declaration of crc32()
- Changed MY_FILE_ERROR to be (size_t) -1.
- Changed many variables to hold the result of my_read() / my_write() to be
size_t. This was needed to properly detect errors (which are
returned as (size_t) -1).
- Removed some very old VMS code
- Changed packfrm()/unpackfrm() to not be depending on uint size
(portability fix)
- Removed windows specific code to restore cursor position as this
causes slowdown on windows and we should not mix read() and pread()
calls anyway as this is not thread safe. Updated function comment to
reflect this. Changed function that depended on original behavior of
my_pwrite() to itself restore the cursor position (one such case).
- Added some missing checking of return value of malloc().
- Changed definition of MOD_PAD_CHAR_TO_FULL_LENGTH to avoid 'long' overflow.
- Changed type of table_def::m_size from my_size_t to ulong to reflect that
m_size is the number of elements in the array, not a string/memory
length.
- Moved THD::max_row_length() to table.cc (as it's not depending on THD).
Inlined max_row_length_blob() into this function.
- More function comments
- Fixed some compiler warnings when compiled without partitions.
- Removed setting of LEX_STRING() arguments in declaration (portability fix).
- Some trivial indentation/variable name changes.
- Some trivial code simplifications:
- Replaced some calls to alloc_root + memcpy to use
strmake_root()/strdup_root().
- Changed some calls from memdup() to strmake() (Safety fix)
- Simpler loops in client-simple.c

REPAIR TABLE believed it has to use the meta file to create a new table from it. With the fixed order, REPAIR TABLE does now use the data file to create a new table. So REPAIR TABLE ... USE_FRM works well with ARCHIVE engine now. This issue affects 5.0 only, since in 5.1 ARCHIVE engine stores meta information and data in the same file. mysql-test/r/archive.result: A test case for bug#26138. mysql-test/t/archive.test: A test case for bug#26138. sql/examples/ha_example.cc: Added a comment. sql/ha_archive.cc: First element of engine file name extentions array should be meta/index file extention.
