This change removed 68 explict strlen() calls from the code.
The following renames was done to ensure we don't use the old names
when merging code from earlier releases, as using the new variables
for print function could result in crashes:
- charset->csname renamed to charset->cs_name
- charset->name renamed to charset->coll_name
Almost everything where mechanical changes except:
- Changed to use the new Protocol::store(LEX_CSTRING..) when possible
- Changed to use field->store(LEX_CSTRING*, CHARSET_INFO*) when possible
- Changed to use String->append(LEX_CSTRING&) when possible
Other things:
- There where compiler issues with ensuring that all character set names
points to the same string: gcc doesn't allow one to use integer constants
when defining global structures (constant char * pointers works fine).
To get around this, I declared defines for each character set name
length.
aspects of decimals and integers
For fields and Item's uint8 should be good enough. After
discussions with Alexander Barkov we choose uint16 (for now)
as some format functions may accept +256 digits.
The reason for this patch was to make the usage and storage of decimal
digits simlar. Before this patch decimals was stored/used as uint8,
int and uint. The lengths for numbers where also using a lot of
different types.
Changed most decimal variables and functions to use the new typedef.

Use decimal_digits_t for all aspects of digits (total, precision
and scale), both for decimals and integers.
This patch changes the main name of 3 byte character set from utf8 to
utf8mb3. New old_mode UTF8_IS_UTF8MB3 is added and set TRUE by default,
so that utf8 would mean utf8mb3. If not set, utf8 would mean utf8mb4.
The code did not take into account that:
- U+005C (backslash) can occupy more than mbminlen characters (e.g. in sjis)
- Some character sets do not have a code for U+005C (e.g. swe7)
Adding a new function my_wc_to_printable into MY_CHARSET_HANDLER to
cover all special cases easier.
Stop linking plugins to the server executable on Windows.
Instead, extract whole server functionality into a large DLL, called
server.dll. Link both plugins, and small server "stub" exe to it.
This eliminates plugin dependency on the name of the server executable.
It also reduces the size of the packages (since tiny mysqld.exe
and mariadbd.exe are now both linked to one big DLL)
Also, simplify the functionality of exporing all symbols from selected
static libraries. Rely on WINDOWS_EXPORT_ALL_SYMBOLS, rather than old
self-backed solution.
fix compile error
replace GetProcAddress(GetModuleHandle(NULL), "variable_name")
for server exported data with actual variable names.
Runtime loading was never required,was error prone
, since symbols could be missing at runtime, and now it actually failed,
because we do not export symbols from executable anymore, but from a shared
library
This did require a MYSQL_PLUGIN_IMPORT decoration for the plugin,
but made the code more straightforward, and avoids missing symbols at
runtime (as mentioned before).
The audit plugin is still doing some dynamic loading, as it aims to work
cross-version. Now it won't work cross-version on Windows, as it already
uses some symbols that are *not* dynamically loaded, e.g fn_format
and those symbols now exported from server.dll , when earlier they were
exported by mysqld.exe
Windows, fixes for storage engine plugin loading
after various rebranding stuff
Create server.dll containing functionality of the whole server
make mariadbd.exe/mysqld.exe a stub that is only calling mysqld_main()
fix build
After the MDEV-13118 fix there's no code in the server that
wants caseup/casedn to change the argument in place for simple
charsets. Let's remove this logic and always return the result in a
new string for all charsets, both simple and complex.
1. Removing the optimization that *some* character sets used in casedn()
and caseup(), which allowed (and required) to change the case in-place,
overwriting the string passed as the "src" argument.
Now all CHARSET_INFO's work in the same way:
non of them change the source string in-place, all of them now convert
case from the source string to the destination string, leaving
the source string untouched.
2. Adding "const" qualifier to the "char *src" parameter
to caseup() and casedn().
3. Removing duplicate implementations in ctype-mb.c.
Now both caseup() and casedn() implementations for all CJK character sets
use internally the same function my_casefold_mb()
(the former my_casefold_mb_varlen()).
4. Removing the "unused" attribute from parameters of some my_case{up|dn}_xxx()
implementations, as the affected parameters are now *used* in the code.
Previously these parameters were used only in DBUG_ASSERT().
Handle string length as size_t, consistently (almost always:))
Change function prototypes to accept size_t, where in the past
ulong or uint were used. change local/member variables to size_t
when appropriate.
This fix excludes rocksdb, spider,spider, sphinx and connect for now.
- Added sql/mariadb.h file that should be included first by files in sql
directory, if sql_plugin.h is not used (sql_plugin.h adds SHOW variables
that must be done before my_global.h is included)
- Removed a lot of include my_global.h from include files
- Removed include's of some files that my_global.h automatically includes
- Removed duplicated include's of my_sys.h
- Replaced include my_config.h with my_global.h
Partially backporting MDEV-9874 from 10.2 to 10.0
READ_INFO::read_field() raised the ER_INVALID_CHARACTER_STRING error
when reading an escape character followed by a multi-byte character.
Raising wellformedness errors in READ_INFO::read_field() was wrong,
because the main goal of READ_INFO::read_field() is to *unescape* the
data which was presumably escaped using mysql_real_escape_string(),
using the same character set with the one specified in
"LOAD DATA INFILE ... CHARACTER SET ..." (or assumed by default).
During LOAD DATA, multi-byte characters are not always scanned as a single
entity! In case of escaped data, parts of a multi-byte character can be
scanned on different loop iterations. So the old code erroneously tested
welformedness in the middle of a multi-byte character.
Moreover, the data after unescaping can go into a BLOB field, not a text field.
Wellformedness tests are meaningless in this case.
Ater this patch, wellformedness is only checked later, during
Field::store(str,length,cs) time. The loop that scans bytes only
makes sure to revert the changes made by mysql_real_escape_string().
Note, in some cases users can supply data which did not really go through
mysql_real_escape_string() and was escaped by some other means,
or was not escaped at all. The file reported in this MDEV contains
the string "\ä", which is an example of such improperly escaped data, as
- either there should be two backslashes: "\\ä"
- or there should be no backslashes at all: "ä"
mysql_real_escape_string() could not generate "\ä".
- Moving detection of the MY_CS_CSSORT, MY_CS_PUREASCII, MY_CS_NONASCII
flags of loadable collations from add_collation() in mysys.c
to my_cset_init_8bit() and my_coll_init_simple() in ctype-simple.c.
- Adding tests that these flags are set properly for loadable collations
- Moving LDML test related *.xml files from mysql-test/std_data/
to mysql-test/std_data/ldml/, as there will be more *.xml test files
- Removing the "diff_if_only_endspace_difference" argument from
MY_COLLATION_HANDLER::strnncollsp(), my_strnncollsp_simple(),
as well as in the function template MY_FUNCTION_NAME(strnncollsp)
in strcoll.ic
- Removing the "diff_if_only_space_different" from ha_compare_text(),
hp_rec_key_cmp().
- Adding a new function my_strnncollsp_padspace_bin() and reusing
it instead of duplicate code pieces in my_strnncollsp_8bit_bin(),
my_strnncollsp_latin1_de(), my_strnncollsp_tis620(),
my_strnncollsp_utf8_cs().
- Adding more tests for better coverage of the trailing space handling.
- Removing the unused definition of HA_END_SPACE_ARE_EQUAL
Note, the patch for MDEV-8661 unintentionally fixed MDEV-8694 as well,
as a side effect. Adding a real clear fix: implementing
Item_func_like::propagate_equal_fields() with comments.
This is a pre-requisite patch for:
- MDEV-8433 Make field<'broken-string' use indexes
- MDEV-8625 Bad result set with ignorable characters when using a prefix key
- MDEV-8626 Bad result set with contractions when using a prefix key
