14685b10df MDEV-32050: Deprecate&ignore innodb_purge_rseg_truncate_frequency
The motivation of introducing the parameter
innodb_purge_rseg_truncate_frequency in
mysql/mysql-server@28bbd66ea5 and
mysql/mysql-server@8fc2120fed
seems to have been to avoid stalls due to freeing undo log pages
or truncating undo log tablespaces. In MariaDB Server,
innodb_undo_log_truncate=ON should be a much lighter operation
than in MySQL, because it will not involve any log checkpoint.

Another source of performance stalls should be
trx_purge_truncate_rseg_history(), which is shrinking the history list
by freeing the undo log pages whose undo records have been purged.
To alleviate that, we will introduce a purge_truncation_task that will
offload this from the purge_coordinator_task. In that way, the next
innodb_purge_batch_size pages may be parsed and purged while the pages
from the previous batch are being freed and the history list being shrunk.

The processing of innodb_undo_log_truncate=ON will still remain the
responsibility of the purge_coordinator_task.

purge_coordinator_state::count: Remove. We will ignore
innodb_purge_rseg_truncate_frequency, and act as if it had been
set to 1 (the maximum shrinking frequency).

purge_coordinator_state::do_purge(): Invoke an asynchronous task
purge_truncation_callback() to free the undo log pages.

purge_sys_t::iterator::free_history(): Free those undo log pages
that have been processed. This used to be a part of
trx_purge_truncate_history().

purge_sys_t::clone_end_view(): Take a new value of purge_sys.head
as a parameter, so that it will be updated while holding exclusive
purge_sys.latch. This is needed for race-free access to the field
in purge_truncation_callback().

1182451af1 MDEV-32018 Allow the setting of Auto_increment on FK referenced columns
In MDEV-31086, SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=0 cannot bypass checks that
make column types of foreign keys incompatible. An unfortunate
consequence is that adding an AUTO_INCREMENT is considered
incompatible in Field_{num,decimal}::is_equal and for the purpose
of FK checks this isn't relevant.

innodb.foreign_key - pragmaticly left wait_until_count_sessions.inc at
end of test to match the second line of test.

Reporter: horrockss@github - https://github.com/MariaDB/mariadb-docker/issues/528
Co-Author: Marko Mäkelä <marko.makela@mariadb.com>
Reviewer: Nikita Malyavin

For the future reader this was attempted:

Removing AUTO_INCREMENT checks from Field_{num,decimal}::is_equals
failed in the following locations (noted for future fixing):
* MyISAM and Aria (not InnoDB) don't adjust AUTO_INCREMENT next number
  correctly, hence added a test to main.auto_increment to catch
  the next person that attempts this fix.
* InnoDB must perform an ALGORITHM=COPY to populate NULL values of
  an original table (MDEV-19190 mtr test period.copy), this requires
  ALTER_STORED_COLUMN_TYPE to be set in fill_alter_inplace_info
  which doesn't get hit because field->is_equal is true.
* InnoDB must not perform the change inplace (below patch)
* innodb.innodb-alter-timestamp main.partition_innodb test would
  also need futher investigation.

InnoDB ha_innobase::check_if_supported_inplace_alter to support the
removal of Field_{num,decimal}::is_equal AUTO_INCREMENT checks would need the following change

In commit 78a04a4c22 (MDEV-29869)

DB_LOCK_WAIT.

The test case for this is nondeterministic; without this fix, it
would only occasionally fail.

5f09b53bdb MDEV-31086 MODIFY COLUMN can break FK constraints, and lead to unrestorable dumps
- When foreign_key_check is disabled, allowing to modify the
column which is part of foreign key constraint can lead to
refusal of TRUNCATE TABLE, OPTIMIZE TABLE later. So it make
sense to block the column modify operation when foreign key
is involved irrespective of foreign_key_check variable.

Correct way to modify the charset of the column when fk is involved:

SET foreign_key_checks=OFF;
ALTER TABLE child DROP FOREIGN KEY fk, MODIFY m VARCHAR(200) CHARSET utf8mb4;
ALTER TABLE parent MODIFY m VARCHAR(200) CHARSET utf8mb4;
ALTER TABLE child ADD CONSTRAINT FOREIGN KEY (m) REFERENCES PARENT(m);
SET foreign_key_checks=ON;

fk_check_column_changes(): Remove the FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS while
checking the column change for foreign key constraint. This
is the partial revert of commit 5f1f2fc0e4
and it changes the behaviour of copy alter algorithm

ha_innobase::prepare_inplace_alter_table(): Find the modified
column and check whether it is part of existing and newly
added foreign key constraint.

2ca1123464 MDEV-26217 Failing assertion: list.count > 0 in ut_list_remove or Assertion `lock->trx == this' failed in dberr_t trx_t::drop_table
This follows up the previous fix in
commit c3c53926c4 (MDEV-26554).

ha_innobase::delete_table(): Work around the insufficient
metadata locking (MDL) during DML operations by acquiring exclusive
InnoDB table locks on all child tables. Previously, this was only
done on TRUNCATE and ALTER.

ibuf_delete_rec(), btr_cur_optimistic_delete(): Do not invoke
lock_update_delete() during change buffer operations.
The revised trx_t::commit(std::vector<pfs_os_file_t>&) will
hold exclusive lock_sys.latch while invoking fil_delete_tablespace(),
which in turn may invoke ibuf_delete_rec().

dict_index_t::has_locking(): A new predicate, replacing the dummy
!dict_table_is_locking_disabled(index->table). Used for skipping lock
operations during ibuf_delete_rec().

trx_t::commit(std::vector<pfs_os_file_t>&): Release the locks
and remove the table from the cache while holding exclusive
lock_sys.latch.

trx_t::commit_in_memory(): Skip release_locks() if dict_operation holds.

trx_t::commit(): Reset dict_operation before invoking commit_in_memory()
via commit_persist().

lock_release_on_drop(): Release locks while lock_sys.latch is
exclusively locked.

lock_table(): Add a parameter for a pointer to the table.
We must not dereference the table before a lock_sys.latch has
been acquired. If the pointer to the table does not match the table
at that point, the table is invalid and DB_DEADLOCK will be returned.

row_ins_foreign_check_on_constraint(): Improve the checks.
Remove a bogus DB_LOCK_WAIT_TIMEOUT return that was needed
before commit c5fd9aa562 (MDEV-25919).

row_upd_check_references_constraints(),
wsrep_row_upd_check_foreign_constraints(): Simplify checks.

5aef0123a7 MDEV-28317 Assertion failures in row_undo_mod on recovery
Starting with 10.3, an assertion would fail on the rollback of
a recovered incomplete transaction if a table definition violates
a FOREIGN KEY constraint.

DICT_ERR_IGNORE_RECOVER_LOCK: Include also DICT_ERR_IGNORE_FK_NOKEY
so that trx_resurrect_table_locks() will be able to load
table definitions and resurrect IX locks. Previously, if the
FOREIGN KEY constraints of a table were incomplete, the table
would fail to load until rollback, and in 10.3 or later an assertion
would fail that the rollback was not protected by a table IX lock.

Thanks to commit 9de2e60d74 there
will be no problems to enforce subsequent FOREIGN KEY operations
even though a table with invalid REFERENCES clause was loaded.

c3c53926c4 MDEV-26554: Races between INSERT on child and DDL on parent table
The SQL layer never acquires metadata locks (MDL) on the tables
that the tables that DML statement accesses is modifying.

However, the storage engine must access the parent table in order to
ensure that the child table will not refer to a non-existing record
in the parent table.

During certain DDL operations, the InnoDB table metadata (dict_table_t)
may be be freed and rebuilt. This would cause a race condition with
a concurrent INSERT that is attempting to report a FOREIGN KEY violation.

We work around the insufficient MDL during DML by acquiring exclusive
InnoDB table locks on all child tables during DDL. To avoid deadlocks,
we will follow the following order of acquisition:

1. tables whose REFERENCES clauses point to the current table
2. the current table that is being subjected to DDL
3. mysql.innodb_table_stats
4. mysql.innodb_index_stats
5. the InnoDB dictionary tables (SYS_TABLES and so on)
6. exclusive dict_sys.latch

54e2e70194 MDEV-25524 heap-use-after-free in fil_space_t::rename()
In commit 91599701d0 (MDEV-25312)
some recovery code for TRUNCATE TABLE was broken
causing a regression in a case where undo log for a RENAME TABLE
operation had been durably written but the tablespace had not been
renamed yet.

test case, and simplify the logic and trim the error messages.

fil_space_t::rename(): Simplify the operation. Merge the necessary
part of fil_rename_tablespace_check(). If there is no change to
the file name, do nothing.

dict_table_t::rename_tablespace(): Refactored from
dict_table_rename_in_cache().

row_undo_ins_parse_undo_rec(): On rolling back TRX_UNDO_RENAME_TABLE,
invoke dict_table_t::rename_tablespace() even if the table name matches.

os_file_rename_func(): Temporarily relax an assertion that would
fail during the recovery in the test innodb.truncate_crash.

828471cbf8 MDEV 15532 Assertion `!log->same_pk' failed in row_log_table_apply_delete
The reason for the failure is that
thd->mdl_context.release_transactional_locks()
was called after commit & rollback even in cases where the current
transaction is still active.

For 10.2, 10.3 and 10.4 the fix is simple:
- Replace all calls to thd->mdl_context.release_transactional_locks() with
  thd->release_transactional_locks(). The thd function will only call
  the mdl_context function if there are no active transactional locks.
  In 10.6 we will better fix where we will change the return value for
  some trans_xxx() functions to indicate if transaction did close the
  transaction or not. This will avoid the need of the indirect call.

Other things:
- trans_xa_commit() and trans_xa_rollback() will automatically
  call release_transactional_locks() if the transaction is closed.
- We can't do that for the other functions as the caller of many of these
  are doing additional work (like close_thread_tables) before calling
  release_transactional_locks().
- Added missing abort_result_set() and missing DBUG_RETURN in
  select_create::send_eof()
- Fixed wrong indentation in injector::transaction::commit()
