This excludes commit 040069f4baead789bcb9dd55bb4932f6d1388d7c
because it is specific to innodb_sync_debug, which had been removed
in commit ff5d306e296350e7489dd3decb01bad18d135411.
On Windows systems, occurrences of ERROR_SHARING_VIOLATION due to
conflicting share modes between processes accessing the same file can
result in CreateFile failures.
mysys' my_open() already incorporates a workaround by implementing
wait/retry logic on Windows.
But this does not help if files are opened using shell redirection like
mysqltest traditionally did it, i.e via
--echo exec "some text" > output_file
In such cases, it is cmd.exe, that opens the output_file, and it
won't do any sharing-violation retries.
This commit addresses the issue by introducing a new built-in command,
'write_line', in mysqltest. This new command serves as a brief alternative
to 'write_file', with a single line output, that also resolves variables
like "exec" would.
Internally, this command will use my_open(), and therefore retry-on-error
logic.
Hopefully this will eliminate the very sporadic "can't open file because
it is used by another process" error on CI.
In MariaDB, we have a confusing problem where:
* The transaction_isolation option can be set in a configuration file, but it cannot be set dynamically.
* The tx_isolation system variable can be set dynamically, but it cannot be set in a configuration file.
Therefore, we have two different names for the same thing in different contexts. This is needlessly confusing, and it complicates the documentation. The same thing applys for transaction_read_only.
MySQL 5.7 solved this problem by making them into system variables. https://dev.mysql.com/doc/relnotes/mysql/5.7/en/news-5-7-20.html
This commit takes a similar approach by adding new system variables and marking the original ones as deprecated. This commit also resolves some legacy problems related to SET STATEMENT and transaction_isolation.
mtr uses group suffix, but some existing inc and test files use
server_id for expect files. This patch aims to fix that.
For spider:
With this change we will not have to maintain a separate version of
restart_mysqld.inc for spider, that duplicates code, just because
spider tests use different names for expect files, and shutdown_mysqld
requires magical names for them.
With this change spider tests will also be able to use other features
provided by restart_mysqld.inc without code duplication, like the
parameter $restart_parameters (see e.g. the testcase mdev_29904.test
in commit ef1161e5d4f).
Tests run after this change: default, spider, rocksdb, galera, using
the following command
mtr --parallel=auto --force --max-test-fail=0 --skip-core-file
mtr --suite spider,spider/*,spider/*/* \
--skip-test="spider/oracle.*|.*/t\..*" --parallel=auto --big-test \
--force --max-test-fail=0 --skip-core-file
mtr --suite galera --parallel=auto
mtr --suite rocksdb --parallel=auto
This commit contains fixes for error codes, which are needed
because OpenSSL 3.x and recent versions of GnuTLS have changed
the indication of error codes when the peer does not send
close_notify before closing the connection.
row_check_index(): Treat secondary indexes of temporary tables as if
SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ UNCOMMITTED
is in effect. That is, only consider the delete-mark and nothing else.
ha_innobase::check(): Do not enable READ UNCOMMITTED isolation level
for temporary tables, because it would report index count mismatch
for secondary indexes.
row_check_index(): Ignore EXTENDED for temporary tables, because
the tables are private to the current connection and there will be
no purge of committed transaction history.
- While creating a new InnoDB segment, allocates the extent
before allocating the inode or page allocation even though
the pages are present in fragment segment. This patch does
reserve the extent when InnoDB ran out of fragment pages
in the tablespace.
Let us introduce the parameter innodb_read_only_compressed
that is ON by default, making any ROW_FORMAT=COMPRESSED tables
read-only.
I developed the ROW_FORMAT=COMPRESSED format based on
Heikki Tuuri's rough design between 2005 and 2008. It might
have been a good idea back then, but no proper benchmarks were
ever run to validate the design or the implementation.
The format has been more or less obsolete for years.
It limits innodb_page_size to 16384 bytes (the default),
and instant ALTER TABLE is not supported.
This is the first step towards deprecating and removing
write support for ROW_FORMAT=COMPRESSED tables.

InnoDB does not allow FOREIGN KEY constraints to exist for TEMPORARY TABLE.
InnoDB introduced a dedicated tablespace for temporary tables, and actually
stopped creating persistent metadata and data for temporary tables.

Problem:
when incorrect value is assigned to innodb_data_file_path or
innodb_temp_data_file_path parameter, Innodb returns error and logs error
message in mysqlds.err file but there is no information in error message about
the parameter which causes Innodb initialization is failed.
Fix:
Added error message with parameter name and value, which causes Innodb
initialization is failed.

On Windows, when tmpdir is not writable, there are only messages
like this:
2017-07-05 14:04:25 3860 [ERROR] InnoDB: Unable to create temporary file; errno: 0
On other platforms, there would be two messages for each failure:
2017-07-05 17:23:02 140436573771648 [ERROR] mysqld: Can't create/write to file '/dev/null/nonexistent/ibaajU4U' (Errcode: 20 "Not a directory")

1. Special mode to search in error logs: if SEARCH_RANGE is not set,
the file is considered an error log and the search is performed
since the last CURRENT_TEST: line
2. Number of matches is printed too. "FOUND 5 /foo/ in bar".
Use greedy .* at the end of the pattern if number of matches
isn't stable. If nothing is found it's still "NOT FOUND",
not "FOUND 0".
3. SEARCH_ABORT specifies the prefix of the output.
Can be "NOT FOUND" or "FOUND" as before,
but also "FOUND 5 " if needed.
MySQL 5.7 allows temporary tables to be created in ROW_FORMAT=COMPRESSED.
The usefulness of this is questionable. WL#7899 in MySQL 8.0.0
prevents the creation of such compressed tables, so that all InnoDB
temporary tables will be located inside the predefined
InnoDB temporary tablespace.
