64a5fab00e Step#1 MDEV-27896 Wrong result upon COLLATE latin1_bin CHARACTER SET latin1 on the table or the database level
- Adding data type aliases:
  using Lex_column_charset_collation_attrs_st = Lex_charset_collation_st;
  using Lex_column_charset_collation_attrs = Lex_charset_collation;

  and using them all around the code (except lex_charset.*)
  instead of the original names.

- Renaming Lex_field_type_st::lex_charset_collation()
  to charset_collation_attrs()

- Renaming Column_definition::set_lex_charset_collation()
  to set_charset_collation_attrs()

- Renaming Column_definition::lex_charset_collation()
  to charset_collation_attrs()

Rationale:

The name "Lex_charset_collation" was a not very good name.
It does not tell details about its properties:
1. if the charset is optional (yes)
2. if the collation is optional (yes)
3. if the charset can be exact (yes) or context (no)
4. if the collation can be: exact (yes) or context (yes)
5. if the clauses can be repeated multiple times (yes)

We'll need a few new data types soon with different properties.
For example, to fix MDEV-27896 and MDEV-27782, we'll need a new
data type which is very like Lex_charset_collation, but additionally
supports CHARACTER SET DEFAULT (which is allowed on table and database level,
but is not allowed on the column level yet), i.e. with:
  "the charset can be exact (yes) or context (yes)" in N3.

So we'll have to rename Lex_charset_collation to something else,
e.g.: Lex_exact_charset_extended_collation_attrs,
and add a new data type:
e.g. Lex_extended_charset_extended_collation_attrs

Also, we'll possibly allow CHARACTER SET DEFAULT at the column level for
consistency with other places. So the storge on the column level can change:
- from Lex_exact_charset_extended_collation_attrs
- to   Lex_extended_charset_extended_collation_attrs

Adding the aliases introduces a convenient abstraction against
upcoming renames and c++ data type changes.

93e64d1f58 cleanup: log_current_statement and OPTION_KEEP_LOG
rename OPTION_KEEP_LOG -> OPTION_BINLOG_THIS_TRX.
    Meaning: transaction cache will be written to binlog even on rollback.

    convert log_current_statement to OPTION_BINLOG_THIS_STMT.
    Meaning: the statement will be written to binlog (or trx binlog cache)
    even if it normally wouldn't be.

    setting OPTION_BINLOG_THIS_STMT must always set OPTION_BINLOG_THIS_TRX,
    otherwise the statement won't be logged if the transaction is rolled back.
    Use OPTION_BINLOG_THIS to set both.

9286c9e647 MDEV-28254 Wrong position for row_start, row_end after adding column to implicit versioned table
Implicit system-versioned table does not contain system fields in SHOW
CREATE. Therefore after mysqldump recovery such table has system
fields in the last place in frm image. The original table meanwhile
does not guarantee these system fields on last place because adding
new fields via ALTER TABLE places them last. Thus the order of fields
may be different between master and slave, so row-based replication
may fail.

To fix this on ALTER TABLE we now place system-invisible fields always
last in frm image. If the table was created via old revision and has
an incorrect order of fields it can be fixed via any copy operation of
ALTER TABLE, f.ex.:

  ALTER TABLE t1 FORCE;

To check the order of fields in frm file one can use hexdump:

  hexdump -C t1.frm

Note, the replication fails only when all 3 conditions are met:

  1. row-based or mixed mode replication;
  2. table has new fields added via ALTER TABLE;
  3. table was rebuilt on some, but not all nodes via mysqldump image.

Otherwise it will operate properly even with incorrect order of
fields.

5945e420f1 MDEV-24920: Merge "old" SQL variable to "old_mode" sql variable
Analysis: There are 2 server variables- "old_mode" and "old". "old" is no
longer needed as "old_mode" has replaced it (however still used in some places
 in the code). "old_mode" and "old" has same purpose- emulate behavior from
previous MariaDB versions. So they can be merged to avoid confusion.
Fix: Deprecate "old" variable and create another mode for @@old_mode to mimic
behavior of previous "old" variable. Create specific modes for specifix task
that --old sql variable was doing earlier and use the new modes instead.

bfed2c7d57 MDEV-27753 Incorrect ENGINE type of table after crash for CONNECT table
whenever possible, partitioning should use the full
partition plugin name, not the one byte legacy code.

Normally, ha_partition can get the engine plugin from
table_share->default_part_plugin.

But in some cases, e.g. in DROP TABLE, the table isn't
opened, table_share is NULL, and ha_partition has to parse
the frm, much like dd_frm_type() does.

temporary_tables.cc, sql_table.cc:

When dropping a table, it must be deleted in the engine
first, then frm file. Because frm can be the only true
source of metadata that the engine might need for DROP.

table.cc:

when opening a partitioned table, if the engine for
partitions is not found, do not fallback to MyISAM.

0366fb5f54 MDEV-27605 ALTER .. ADD PARTITION uses wrong partition-level option values
When a partition with engine-defined partition options is added by
ALTER, it shows the correct definition in SHOW CREATE, but the actual
values get inherited from the previous partition.

The cause of the bug is that the server did not parse the options
associated with the newly added partition.

In the case of ALTER, the complete part_info, which represents the
partition structure after ALTER, is built by prep_alter_part_table().
So, we need to parse engine-defined partition options after the call
of the function.

0c5d1342ae MDEV-11675 Lag Free Alter On Slave
This commit implements two phase binloggable ALTER.
When a new

      @@session.binlog_alter_two_phase = YES

ALTER query gets logged in two parts, the START ALTER and the COMMIT
or ROLLBACK ALTER. START Alter is written in binlog as soon as
necessary locks have been acquired for the table. The timing is
such that any concurrent DML:s that update the same table are either
committed, thus logged into binary log having done work on the old
version of the table, or will be queued for execution on its new
version.

The "COMPLETE" COMMIT or ROLLBACK ALTER are written at the very point
of a normal "single-piece" ALTER that is after the most of
the query work is done. When its result is positive COMMIT ALTER is
written, otherwise ROLLBACK ALTER is written with specific error
happened after START ALTER phase.
Replication of two-phase binloggable ALTER is
cross-version safe. Specifically the OLD slave merely does not
recognized the start alter part, still being able to process and
memorize its gtid.

Two phase logged ALTER is read from binlog by mysqlbinlog to produce
BINLOG 'string', where 'string' contains base64 encoded
Query_log_event containing either the start part of ALTER, or a
completion part. The Query details can be displayed with `-v` flag,
similarly to ROW format events. Notice, mysqlbinlog output containing
parts of two-phase binloggable ALTER is processable correctly only by
binlog_alter_two_phase server.

@@log_warnings > 2 can reveal details of binlogging and slave side
processing of the ALTER parts.

The current commit also carries fixes to the following list of
reported bugs:
MDEV-27511, MDEV-27471, MDEV-27349, MDEV-27628, MDEV-27528.

test: Sergei Golubchik, Andrei Elkin who took the burden of the
implemenation completion, Sujatha Sivakumar, Brandon

c5d09f731a MDEV-5271 Support engine-defined attributes per partition
Make it possible to specify engine-defined attributes on partitions
as well as tables.

If an engine-defined attribute is only specified at the table level,
it applies to all the partitions in the table.
This is a backward-compatible behavior.

If the same attribute is specified both at the table level and the
partition level, the per-partition one takes precedence.
So, we can consider per-table attributes as default values.

One cannot specify engine-defined attributes on subpartitions.

Implementation details:

* We store per-partition attributes in the partition_element class
  because we already have the part_comment field, which is for
  per-partition comments.

* In the case of ALTER TABLE statements, the partition_elements in
  table->part_info is set up by mysql_unpack_partition().
  So, we parse per-partition attributes after the call of the function.

585cb18ed1 MDEV-27452 TIMESTAMP(0) system field is allowed for certain creation of system-versioned table
First, we do not add VERS_UPDATE_UNVERSIONED_FLAG for system field and
that fixes SHOW CREATE result.

Second, we have to call check_sys_fields() for any CREATE TABLE and
there correct type is checked for system fields.

Third, we update system_time like as_row structures for ALTER TABLE
and that makes check_sys_fields() happy for ALTER TABLE when we make
system fields hidden.
