5af70decca MDEV-15935 Adding global/session system var redirect_url
Adding a global/session var `redirect_url' of string type. The initial
value is empty. Can be supplied in mysqld with --redirect-url or set
in --init-connect. A valid redirect_url should be of the format

{mysql,mariadb}://host[:port]

where <host> is an arbitrary string not containing colons, and <port>
is a number between 0 and 65535 inclusive.

The variable will be used by the server to notify clients that they
should connect to another server, specified by the value of the
variable, if not empty.

The notification is done by the inclusion of the variable in
session_track_system_variable.

6151bde48c cleanup: string sys_var types
Merge sys_var_charptr with sys_var_charptr_base, as well as merge
Sys_var_session_lexstring into Sys_var_lexstring. Also refactored
update methods of sys_var_charptr accordingly.

Because the class is more generic, session_update() calls
sys_var_charptr::session_update() which does not assume a buffer field
associated with THD, but instead call strdup/free, we get rid of
THD::default_master_connection_buff accordingly. This also makes THD
smaller by ~192 bytes, and there can be many thousands of concurrent
THDs.

The MDEV-29693 conflict resolution is from Monty, as well as is
a bug fix where ANALYZE TABLE wrongly built histograms for
single-column PRIMARY KEY.
Also includes a fix for safe_malloc error reporting.

Other things:
- Copied main.log_slow from 10.4 to avoid mtr issue

Disabled test:
- spider/bugfix.mdev_27239 because we started to get
  +Error	1429 Unable to connect to foreign data source: localhost
  -Error	1158 Got an error reading communication packets
- main.delayed
  - Bug#54332 Deadlock with two connections doing LOCK TABLE+INSERT DELAYED
    This part is disabled for now as it fails randomly with different
    warnings/errors (no corruption).

4e9322e2ff MDEV-32203 Raise notes when an index cannot be used on data type mismatch
Raise notes if indexes cannot be used:
- in case of data type or collation mismatch (diferent error messages).
- in case if a table field was replaced to something else
  (e.g. Item_func_conv_charset) during a condition rewrite.

Added option to write warnings and notes to the slow query log for
slow queries.

New variables added/changed:

- note_verbosity, with is a set of the following options:
  basic            - All old notes
  unusable_keys - Print warnings about keys that cannot be used
                     for select, delete or update.
  explain - Print unusable_keys warnings for EXPLAIN querys.

The default is 'basic,explain'. This means that for old installations
the only notable new behavior is that one will get notes about
unusable keys when one does an EXPLAIN for a query. One can turn all
of all notes by either setting note_verbosity to "" or setting sql_notes=0.

- log_slow_verbosity has a new option 'warnings'. If this is set
  then warnings and notes generated are printed in the slow query log
  (up to log_slow_max_warnings times per statement).

- log_slow_max_warnings - Max number of warnings written to
                            slow query log.

Other things:
- One can now use =ALL for any 'set' variable to set all options at once.
  For example using "note_verbosity=ALL" in a config file or
  "SET @@note_verbosity=ALL' in SQL.
- mysqldump will in the future use @@note_verbosity=""' instead of
  @sql_notes=0 to disable notes.
- Added "enum class Data_type_compatibility" and changing the return type
  of all Field::can_optimize*() methods from "bool" to this new data type.

Reviewer & Co-author: Alexander Barkov <bar@mariadb.com>
- The code that prints out the notes comes mainly from Alexander

e3b36b8f1b MDEV-31957 Concurrent ALTER and ANALYZE collecting statistics can result in stale statistical data
Example of what causes the problem:
T1: ANALYZE TABLE starts to collect statistics
T2: ALTER TABLE starts by deleting statistics for all changed fields,
    then creates a temp table and copies data to it.
T1: ANALYZE ends and writes to the statistics tables.
T2: ALTER TABLE renames temp table in place of the old table.

Now the statistics from analyze matches the old deleted tables.

Fixed by waiting to delete old statistics until ALTER TABLE is
the only one using the old table and ensure that rename of columns
can handle swapping of column names.

rename_columns_in_stat_table() (former rename_column_in_stat_tables())
now takes a list of columns to rename. It uses the following algorithm
to update column_stats to be able to handle circular renames

- While there are columns to be renamed and it is the first loop or
  last rename loop did change something.
  - Loop over all columns to be renamed
    - Change column name in column_stat
      - If fail because of duplicate key
      - If this is first change attempt for this column
         - Change column name to a temporary column name
         - If there was a conflicting row, replace it with the current row.
    else
     - Remove entry from column list

- Loop over all remaining columns in the list
 - Remove the conflicting row
 - Change column from temporary name to final name in column_stat

Other things:
- Don't flush tables for every operation. Only flush when all updates
  are done.
- Rename of columns was not handled in case of ALGORITHM=copy (old bug).
  - Fixed that we do not collect statistics for hidden hash columns
    used by UNIQUE constraint on long values.
  - Fixed that we do not collect statistics for blob columns referred by
    generated virtual columns. This was achieved by storing the fields for
    which we want to have statistics in table->has_value_set instead of
    in table->read_set.
- Rename of indexes was not handled for persistent statistics.
  - This is now handled similar as rename of columns. Renamed columns
    are now stored in 'rename_stat_indexes' and handled in
    Alter_info::delete_statistics() together with drooped indexes.
- ALTER TABLE .. ADD INDEX may instead of creating a new index rename
  an existing generated foreign key index. This was not reflected in
  the index_stats table because this was handled in
  mysql_prepare_create_table instead instead of in the mysql_alter() code.
  Fixed by adding a call in mysql_prepare_create_table() to drop the
  changed index.
  I also had to change the code that 'marked the index' to be ignored
  with code that would not destroy the original index name.

68353dc92a MDEV-23902: MariaDB crash on calling function
On creation of a VIEW that depends on a stored routine an instance of
the class Item_func_sp is allocated on a memory root of SP statement.
It happens since mysql_make_view() calls the method
  THD::activate_stmt_arena_if_needed()
before parsing definition of the view.
On the other hand, when sp_head's rcontext is created an instance of
the class Field referenced by the data member
  Item_func_sp::result_field
is allocated on the Item_func_sp's Query_arena (call arena) that set up
inside the method
  Item_sp::execute_impl
just before calling the method
  sp_head::execute_function()

On return from the method sp_head::execute_function() all items allocated
on the Item_func_sp's Query_arena are released and its memory root is freed
(see implementation of the method Item_sp::execute_impl). As a consequence,
the pointer
  Item_func_sp::result_field
references to the deallocated memory. Later, when the method
  sp_head::execute
cleans up items allocated for just executed SP instruction the method
  Item_func_sp::cleanup is invoked and tries to delete an object referenced
by data member Item_func_sp::result_field that points to already deallocated
memory, that results in a server abnormal termination.

To fix the issue the current active arena shouldn't be switched to
a statement arena inside the function mysql_make_view() that invoked indirectly
by the method sp_head::rcontext_create. It is implemented by introducing
the new Query_arena's state STMT_SP_QUERY_ARGUMENTS that is set when explicit
Query_arena is created for placing SP arguments and other caller's side items
used during SP execution. Then the method THD::activate_stmt_arena_if_needed()
checks Query_arena's state and returns immediately without switching to
statement's arena.

f5aae71661 MDEV-31606 Refactor check_db_name() to get a const argument
Problem:
Under terms of MDEV-27490, we'll update Unicode version used
to compare identifiers to 14.0.0. Unlike in the old Unicode version,
in the new version a string can grow during lower-case. We cannot
perform check_db_name() inplace any more.

Change summary:

- Allocate memory to store lower-cased identifiers in memory root

- Removing check_db_name() performing both in-place lower-casing and validation
  at the same time. Splitting it into two separate stages:
  * creating a memory-root lower-cased copy of an identifier
    (using new MEM_ROOT functions and Query_arena wrapper methods)
  * performing validation on a constant string
    (using Lex_ident_fs methods)

Implementation details:

- Adding a mysys helper function to allocate lower-cased strings on MEM_ROOT:

    lex_string_casedn_root()

  and a Query_arena wrappers for it:

    make_ident_casedn()
    make_ident_opt_casedn()

- Adding a Query_arena method to perform both MEM_ROOT lower-casing and
  database name validation at the same time:

    to_ident_db_internal_with_error()

  This method is very close to the old (pre-11.3) check_db_name(),
  but performs lower-casing to a newly allocated MEM_ROOT
  memory (instead of performing lower-casing the original string in-place).

- Adding a Table_ident method which additionally handles derived table names:

    to_ident_db_internal_with_error()

- Removing the old check_db_name()

e937a64d46 MDEV-10356: rpl.rpl_parallel_temptable failure due to incorrect commit optimization of temptables
The problem was that parallel replication of temporary tables using
statement-based binlogging could overlap the COMMIT in one thread with a DML
or DROP TEMPORARY TABLE in another thread using the same temporary table.
Temporary tables are not safe for concurrent access, so this caused
reference to freed memory and possibly other nastiness.

The fix is to disable the optimisation with overlapping commits of one
transaction with the start of a later transaction, when temporary tables are
in use. Then the following event groups will be blocked from starting until
the one using temporary tables is completed.

This also fixes occasional test failures of rpl.rpl_parallel_temptable seen
in Buildbot.

9b0b314b17 MDEV-31991 Split class Database_qualified_name
- Moving some of Database_qualidied_name methods into a new class
  Identifier_chain2.

- Changing the data type of the following variables from
  Database_qualified_name to Identifier_chain2:

  * q_pkg_proc in LEX::call_statement_start()
  * q_pkg_func in LEX::make_item_func_call_generic()

Rationale:

The data type of Database_qualified_name::m_db will be changed
to Lex_ident_db soon. So Database_qualified_name won't be able
to store the `pkg.routine` part of `db.pkg.routine` any more,
because `pkg` must not depend on lower-case-table-names.

d15e290285 MDEV-31982 Remove check_db_name() from prepare_db_action()
- Adding a new class Lex_ident_db, to store normalized database names:
  lower-cased if lower-case-table-name says so,
  and checked to be a valid database name using Lex_ident_fs::check_db_name()

- Reusing the new class in parameters to functions:
    prepare_db_action()
    mysql_create_db()
    mysql_alter_db()
    mysql_rm_db()
    mysql_upgrade_db()

This change removed two old-style check_db_name() calls.

- Changing the global function ok_for_lower_case_names()

- Changing a few functions/methods to get the database name

b956a6a259 MDEV-31948 Add class DBNameBuffer, split check_db_name() into stages
- Adding a class Lex_ident_fs, to store identifiers for on-disk
  database objects, such as databases, tables, triggers.

- Moving the validation code from check_db_name()
  to non-modifying methods in Lex_ident_fs:

    Lex_ident_fs::check_body()
    Lex_ident_fs::check_db_name()

  Adding a new method Lex_ident_fs::check_db_name_with_error(),
  which performs validation and raises an error on validation failure.

  Unlike the old function check_db_name(), the new class Lex_ident_fs
  does not lower-case the identifier during the validation.
  Lower-casing must be done before calling Lex_ident_fs validation methods.

- Adding a low level helper template class CharBuffer which can:
  * store exact or lower-cased strings with a short fixed maximum length
  * return the value as a LEX_CSTRING efficiently

- Adding a helper template class DBNameBuffer (deriving from CharBuffer), to
  allocate optionally lower-cased database identifiers on stack when relevant.
  Useful for temporary values which don't need to be allocated on MEM_ROOT.

- Using DBNameBuffer in mysql_change_db()

- Using DBNameBuffer in show_create_db()

c382de72ea MDEV-30984 Online ALTER table is denied with non-informative error messages
Group all the checks in online_alter_check_supported().

There is now two groups of checks:
1. A technical availability of online, that is checked before open_tables,
and affects table_list->lock_type. It's supposed to be safe to make it
TL_READ even if COPY algorithm will fall back to not-online, since MDL is
SHARED_UPGRADEABLE anyway.
2. An 'online' availability for a COPY algorithm. It can be done as late as
just before the copy_data_between_tables call. The lock_type influence is
disclosed above, so the only other place it affects is
Alter_info::supports_lock, where `online` flag is only used to decide
whether to report the error at the inplace preparation stage. We'd want to
make that at the last resort, which is COPY preparation, if no algorithm is
chosen by the user. So it's event better now.

Some changes are required to the autoinc support detection, as the check
now happens after mysql_prepare_alter_table:
* alter_info->drop_list is empty
* instead, dropped columns are in tmp_set
* alter_info->create_list now has every field that's in the new table.
* the column definition's change.str will be nonnull whether the column
  remains in the new table (vs whether it was changed, as before).
  But it also has `field` field set.
* IF EXISTS doesn't have to be dealt anymore

This infers that the changes are now checked in more detail: a field's
definition shouldn't be changed, vs a field shouldn't be mentioned in
the CHANGE list, as it was before. This is reflected by the line 193 test.

c76072db93 MDEV-31033 ER_KEY_NOT_FOUND upon online COPY ALTER on a partitioned table
The row events were applied "twice": once for the ha_partition, and one
more time for the underlying storage engine.

There's no such problem in binlog/rpl, because ha_partiton::row_logging
is normally set to false.

The fix makes the events replicate only when the handler is a root handler.
We will try to *guess* this by comparing it to table->file. The same
approach is used in the MDEV-21540 fix, 231feabd. The assumption is made,
that the row methods are only called for table->file (and never for a
cloned handler), hence the assertions are added in ha_innobase and
ha_myisam to make sure that this is true at least for those engines

Also closes MDEV-31040, however the test is not included, since we have no
convenient way to construct a deterministic version.

ab4bfad206 MDEV-16329 [5/5] ALTER ONLINE TABLE
* Log rows in online_alter_binlog.
* Table online data is replicated within dedicated binlog file
* Cached data is written on commit.
* Versioning is fully supported.
* Works both wit and without binlog enabled.

* For now savepoints setup is forbidden while ONLINE ALTER goes on.
  Extra support is required. We can simply log the SAVEPOINT query events
  and replicate them together with row events. But it's not implemented
  for now.

* Cache flipping:

  We want to care for the possible bottleneck in the online alter binlog
  reading/writing in advance.

  IO_CACHE does not provide anything better that sequential access,
  besides, only a single write is mutex-protected, which is not suitable,
  since we should write a transaction atomically.

  To solve this, a special layer on top Event_log is implemented.
  There are two IO_CACHE files underneath: one for reading, and one for
  writing.

  Once the read cache is empty, an exclusive lock is acquired (we can wait
  for a currently active transaction finish writing), and flip() is emitted,
  i.e. the write cache is reopened for read, and the read cache is emptied,
  and reopened for writing.

  This reminds a buffer flip that happens in accelerated graphics
  (DirectX/OpenGL/etc).

  Cache_flip_event_log is considered non-blocking for a single reader and a
  single writer in this sense, with the only lock held by reader during flip.

  An alternative approach by implementing a fair concurrent circular buffer
  is described in MDEV-24676.

* Cache managers:
  We have two cache sinks: statement and transactional.
  It is important that the changes are first cached per-statement and
  per-transaction.
  If a statement fails, then only statement data is rolled back. The
  transaction moves along, however.

  Turns out, there's no guarantee that TABLE well persist in
  thd->open_tables to the transaction commit moment.
  If an error occurs, tables from statement are purged.
  Therefore, we can't store te caches in TABLE. Ideally, it should be
  handlerton, but we cut the corner and store it in THD in a list.

5de39c5ae3 MDEV-9069 extend AES_ENCRYPT() and AES_DECRYPT() to support IV and the algorithm
AES_ENCRYPT(str, key, [, iv [, mode ]])
AES_DECRYPT(str, key, [, iv [, mode ]])

mode is aes-{128,192,256}-{ecb,cbc,ctr} e.g. "aes-128-cbc".

and a @@block_encryption_mode variable for the default value of mode

change in behavior: AES_ENCRYPT(str, key) can no longer
