Add new acquire_lock() overloads on MDL_context that combine MDL_request
initialization and lock acquisition into a single call, returning
MDL_ticket* directly. Convert applicable call sites across the codebase
to use the new ACQUIRE_LOCK macro.
All new code of the whole pull request, including one or several files
that are either new files or modified ones, are contributed under the
BSD-new license. I am contributing on behalf of my employer Amazon Web

Following the changes in MDEV-38734, the server no longer marks
all indexed virtual columns during an UPDATE operation.
Consequently, ha_innobase::update() populates the upd_t vector
with old_vrow but omits the actual data for these virtual columns.
Despite this omission, trx_undo_page_report_modify() continues to
write metadata for indexed virtual columns into the undo log. Because
the actual values are missing from the update vector, the undo log
entry is recorded without the historical data for these columns.
When the purge thread processes the undo log to reconstruct a
previous record state for MVCC, it identifies an indexed virtual
column but finds no associated data.
The purge thread incorrectly interprets this missing data as a NULL
value, rather than a "missing/unrecorded" value. The historical
record is reconstructed with an incorrect NULL for the virtual column.
This causes the purge thread to incorrectly identify and purge
records that are not actually delete-marked, leading to abort
of server.
Solution:
=========
ha_innobase::column_bitmaps_signal(): Revert the column-marking
logic to the state prior to commit a4e4a56720, ensuring all
indexed virtual columns are unconditionally marked during an UPDATE.
The previous "optimization" attempted to manually detect indexed
column changes before marking virtual columns. The manual check
for indexed column modifications is redundant. InnoDB already
provides the UPD_NODE_NO_ORD_CHANGE flag within row_upd_step().
This flag is being used in trx_undo_page_report_modify() and
trx_undo_read_undo_rec() should log or read virtual column values.
Refactored column_bitmaps_signal() to accept a mark_for_update
parameter that controls when indexed virtual columns are marked.
TABLE::mark_columns_needed_for_update() is the only place that needs
mark_for_update=true because only UPDATE operations need to mark
indexed virtual columns for InnoDB's undo logging mechanism.
INSERT operation is already handled by
TABLE::mark_virtual_columns_for_write(insert_fl=true).
Even the commit a4e4a56720 changes are
going to affect TABLE::mark_virtual_column_for_write(false) and
It is called during UPDATE operation, and that's when
column_bitmaps_signal() needs to mark indexed virtual columns.
Online DDL has separate code path which is handled by
row_log_mark_virtual_cols() for all DML operations
because it's always allocated and freed as a whole, there is
no operation "replace one name in the middle of the path"
this needed a reworked parser to create the whole list
of names, not append one name at a time.
Fixed a bug where Sql_path::from_text() pretended it can take
a string in any charset, but was always implicitly
assuming it's in my_charset_utf8mb3_general_ci.
* rename to follow the standard vprintf name convention
* remove `(LEX_CSTRING*) &lex_string` casts
* remove some redundant casts too
* LEX_CSTRING -> Lex_ident_db in path
* Hash_set<Sroutine_hash_entry>
* move assert out of the loop
* some comments and whitespace changes
don't create a permanent stack of paths on the heap and in THD.
Do it on the stack like for sql_mode, sctx, abort_on_warning, and
other THD properties that often need to be changed temporarily.
Fix Sql_path constructor.

Implement the SET PATH statement.
```
SET PATH 'schema1, schema2, schema3';
```
Function
--------
In MariaDB, the SQL-path will also be used to lookup packages in
package routine invocations, so the following script:
SET PATH 'sys';
SELECT UTL_ENCODE.BASE64_DECODE('data');
invokes SYS.UTL_ENCODE.BASE64_DECODE('data'), i.e. the function
BASE64_DECODE() in the packge UTL_ENCODE in the database SYS
(if such package and package routine exist).
MariaDB implementation details
------------------------------
The ticket's requirement stated the grammar should support delimited
identifiers with backticks or double quotes within the string quote,
ie: the single tick. A simple parser was implemented to handle this
requirement in Sql_path::from_text.
Only 16 schemas are supported per session - we do not want too many
schemas in the path anyway since it will impact performance. This also
means that the path cache is a simple static array for easier memory
management.
The main purpose of this allow one to use the --read-only
option to ensure that no one can issue a query that can
block replication.
The --read-only option can now take 4 different values:
0 No read only (as before).
1 Blocks changes for users without the 'READ ONLY ADMIN'
privilege (as before).
2 Blocks in addition LOCK TABLES and SELECT IN SHARE MODE
for not 'READ ONLY ADMIN' users.
3 Blocks in addition 'READ_ONLY_ADMIN' users for all the
previous statements.
read_only is changed to an enum and one can use the following
names for the lock levels:
OFF, ON, NO_LOCK, NO_LOCK_NO_ADMIN
Too keep things compatible with older versions config files, one can
still use values FALSE and TRUE, which are mapped to OFF and ON.
The main visible changes are:
- 'show variables like "read_only"' now returns a string
instead of a number.
- Error messages related to read_only violations now contains
the current value off readonly.
Other things:
- is_read_only_ctx() renamed to check_read_only_with_error()
- Moved TL_READ_SKIP_LOCKED to it's logical place

Added capability to create a trigger associated with several trigger
events. For this goal, the syntax of the CREATE TRIGGER statement
was extended to support the syntax structure { event [ OR ... ] }
for the `trigger_event` clause. Since one trigger will be able to
handle several events it should be provided a way to determine what
kind of event is handled on execution of a trigger. For this goal
support of the clauses INSERTING, UPDATING , DELETING was added by
this patch. These clauses can be used inside a trigger body to detect
what kind of trigger action is currently processed using the following
boilerplate:
IF INSERTING THEN ...
ELSIF UPDATING THEN ...
ELSIF DELETING THEN ...
In case one of the clauses INSERTING, UPDATING, DELETING specified in
a trigger's body not matched with a trigger event type, the error
ER_INCOMPATIBLE_EVENT_FLAG is emitted.
After this patch be pushed, one Trigger object will be associated with
several trigger events. It means that the array
Table_triggers_list::triggers
can contain several pointers to the same Trigger object in array members
corresponding to different events. Moreover, support of several trigger
events for the same trigger requires that the data members `next` and
`action_order` of the Trigger class be converted to arrays to store
relating information per trigger event base.
Ability to specify the same trigger for different event types results in
necessity to handle invalid cases on execution of the multi-event
trigger, when the OLD or NEW qualifiers doesn't match a current event
type against that the trigger is run. The clause OLD should produces
the NULL value for INSERT event, whereas the clause NEW should produce
the NULL value for DELETE event.
* rpl.rpl_system_versioning_partitions updated for MDEV-32188
* innodb.row_size_error_log_warnings_3 changed error for MDEV-33658
(checks are done in a different order)
Problem was incorrect handling of partitioned tables,
because db_type == DB_TYPE_PARTITION_DB
wsrep_should_replicate_ddl incorrectly marked
DDL as not replicatable. However, in partitioned
tables we should check implementing storage engine
from table->file->partition_ht() if available because
if partition handler is InnoDB all DDL should be allowed
even with wsrep_strict_ddl. For other storage engines
DDL should not be allowed and error should be issued.
This is 10.5 version of the fix.

Implementation of this task adds ability to raise the signal with
SQLSTATE '02TRG' from a BEFORE INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE trigger and handles
this signal as an indicator meaning 'to throw away the current row'
on processing the INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE statement. The signal with
SQLSTATE '02TRG' has special meaning only in case it is raised inside
BEFORE triggers, for AFTER trigger's this value of SQLSTATE isn't treated
in any special way. In according with SQL standard, the SQLSTATE class '02'
means NO DATA and sql_errno for this class is set to value
ER_SIGNAL_NOT_FOUND by current implementation of MariaDB server.
Implementation of this task assigns the value ER_SIGNAL_SKIP_ROW_FROM_TRIGGER
to sql_errno in Diagnostics_area in case the signal is raised from a trigger
and SQLSTATE has value '02TRG'.
To catch signal with SQLTSATE '02TRG' and handle it in special way, the methods
Table_triggers_list::process_triggers
select_insert::store_values
select_create::store_values
Rows_log_event::process_triggers
and the overloaded function
fill_record_n_invoke_before_triggers
were extended with extra out parameter for returning the flag whether
to skip the current values being processed by INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE
statement. This extra parameter is passed as nullptr in case of AFTER trigger
and BEFORE trigger this parameter points to a variable to store a marker
whether to skip the current record or store it by calling write_record().
Added support of the clause `UPDATE OF <columns>` for
BEFORE/AFTER UPDATE triggers. Triggers defined with this clause
are fired and run actions only in case an UPDATE statement affects
any of the listed columns. For columns not specified in the clause
`UPDATE OF <columns>`, an UPDATE statement with such columns as
targets don't result in running a trigger.
Output of SHOW TRIGGERS isn't affected by this task. Output of
the statement SHOW CREATE TRIGGER shows the clause `UPDATE OF <columns>`
if it was specified on trigger creation.
Tests accompany this task don't include tests that checking for cooperation of
the statement LOAD DATA and the clause `UPDATE OF <columns>` for
BEFORE/AFTER UPDATE triggers since the statement LOAD DATA is treated like
the statement INSERT INTO and therefore doesn't fire BEFORE/AFTER UPDATE
triggers.
it's incorrect to zero out table->triggers->extra_null_bitmap
before a statement, because if insert uses an explicit field list
and omits a field that has no default value, the field should
get NULL implicitly. So extra_null_bitmap should have 1s for all
fields that have no defaults
* create extra_null_bitmap_init and initialize it as above
* copy extra_null_bitmap_init to extra_null_bitmap for inserts
* still zero out extra_null_bitmap for updates/deletes where
all fields definitely have a value
* make not_null_fields_have_null_values() to send
ER_NO_DEFAULT_FOR_FIELD for fields with no default and no value,
otherwise creation of a trigger with an empty body would change the
error message
This bug has the same nature as the issues
MDEV-34718: Trigger doesn't work correctly with bulk update
MDEV-24411: Trigger doesn't work correctly with bulk insert
To fix the issue covering all use cases, resetting the thd->bulk_param
temporary to the value nullptr before invoking triggers and restoring
its original value on finishing execution of a trigger is moved to the method
Table_triggers_list::process_triggers
that be invoked ultimately for any kind of triggers.
