1bbe91facc MDEV-36610 Subquery wrongly eliminated by table elimination
When equality propagation (build_equal_items()) merges an equality that
contains a subquery, such as "t1.a = (SELECT ...)", with an outer join's
ON equality, it can inject a reference to that subquery into the ON
expression. If the join columns have compatible types the subquery ends
up as the constant of a multiple equality (which Item::walk() skips); if
they differ (e.g. BIGINT vs INT) the field cannot be merged and the
subquery is substituted in as a plain "tbl.col = (SELECT ...)" argument.

In the latter case, if that outer join is removed by table elimination,
mark_as_eliminated() walks the ON expression and flags the shared
Item_subselect as eliminated. The subquery, however, still lives in
another part of the query and has to be executed, tripping
DBUG_ASSERT(!eliminated) in Item_subselect::exec() (and, in release
builds, disabling the subquery cache and hiding it from EXPLAIN).

The surviving reference can be:
 - a WHERE/HAVING/select-list/ORDER/GROUP expression (subquery written
   there and pushed down into the eliminated ON), or
 - the ON expression of an outer join that was not eliminated (subquery
   written in a surviving outer ON and pushed down into an eliminated
   inner one).

Fix: after table elimination, walk the expressions that survive into
execution (WHERE, HAVING, select list, ORDER/GROUP BY and the ON
expressions of outer joins that were not eliminated) and clear the
"eliminated" flag on any subquery still reachable from them.

Because a subquery can also be the constant of a multiple equality, and
Item::walk() does not visit an Item_equal's constant, Item_equal gets an
unmark_as_eliminated_processor() override that descends into its constant
explicitly.

f2b48e565c MDEV-38574 Rename cloning functions of class Item and descendants
Rename cloning methods of class Item and its descendants
in the following way:

   (from)            (to)
do_build_clone  -> deep_copy
   build_clone  -> deep_copy_with_checks

do_get_copy  -> shallow_copy
   get_copy  -> shallow_copy_with_checks

to better reflect their functionality.

Also make Item::deep_copy() and shallow_copy() protected.
Outside users should call deep_copy_with_checks()
and shallow_copy_with_checks().

dae5a99c73 MDEV-13817 add support for oracle left join syntax - the ( + )
Parser changes made by Alexander Barkov <bar@mariadb.com>.

Part of the tests made by Iqbal Hassan <iqbal@hasprime.com>.
Initially marking with ORA_JOIN flag made also by
Iqbal Hassan <iqbal@hasprime.com>.

Main idea is that parser mark fields with (+) with a flag
(ORA_JOIN).

During Prepare the flag bring to the new created items if needed.

Later after preparing (fix_firlds()) WHERE confition the
relations betweel the tables analyzed and tables reordered
so to make JOIN/LEFT JOIN operators in chain equivalent to
the query with oracle outer join operator (+).

Then the flags of (+) removed.

main/statistics_json.result is updated for f8ba5ced55 (MDEV-36099)

The test uses 'delete from t1' in many places and then populates
the table again. The natural order of rows in a MyISAM table is well
defined and the test was implicitly relying on that.

before f8ba5ced55 delete was deleting rows one by one, using
ha_myisam::delete_row() because the connection was stuck in rbr mode.
This caused rows to be shown in the reverse insertion order (because of
the delete link list).

MDEV-36099 fixes this bug and the server now correctly uses
ha_myisam::delete_all_rows(). This makes rows to be shown in the
insertion order as expected.

dbfee9fc2b MDEV-34348: Consolidate cmp function declarations
Partial commit of the greater MDEV-34348 scope.
MDEV-34348: MariaDB is violating clang-16 -Wcast-function-type-strict

The functions queue_compare, qsort2_cmp, and qsort_cmp2
all had similar interfaces, and were used interchangable
and unsafely cast to one another.

This patch consolidates the functions all into the
qsort_cmp2 interface.

f5e9c4e9ef cleanup: Queue and Bounded_queue
Bounded_queue<> pretended to be a typesafe C++ wrapper
on top of pure C queues.h.

But it wasn't, it was tightly bounded to filesort and only useful there.

* implement Queue<> - a typesafe C++ wrapper on top of QUEUE
* move Bounded_queue to filesort.cc, remove pointless "generalizations"
  change it to use Queue.
* remove bounded_queue.h
* change subselect_rowid_merge_engine to use Queue, not QUEUE

c3a7a3c7a2 MDEV-34665 Simplify IN predicate processing for NULL-aware materialization involving only one column
It was found that unnecessary work of building Ordered_key structures
is being done when processing NULL-aware materialization for IN predicates
having only one column. In fact, the logic for that simplified case can be
expressed as follows.
Say we have predicate left_expr IN (SELECT <subq1>), where left_expr is
scalar(not a tuple).
Then
    if (left_expr is NULL) {
      if (subq1 produced any rows) {
        // note that we don't care if subq1 has produced
        // NULLs or not.
        NULL IN (<some values>) -> UNKNOWN, i.e. NULL.
      } else {
        NULL IN ({empty-set}) -> FALSE.
      }
    } else {
      // left_expr is a non-NULL value
      if (subq1 output has a match for left_expr) {
        left_expr IN (..., left_expr ...) -> TRUE
      } else {
        // no "known" matches.
        if (subq1 output has a NULL) {
          left_expr IN ( ... NULL ...) ->
           (NULL could have been a match or not)
           -> NULL.
        } else {
          // subq1 didn't produce any "UNKNOWNs" so
          // we're positive there weren't any matches
          -> FALSE.
        }
      }
    }

This commit introduces subselect_single_column_partial_engine class
implementing the logic described.

405613ebb5 MDEV-34490 get_copy() and build_clone() may return an instance of an ancestor class instead of a copy/clone
The `Item` class methods `get_copy()`, `build_clone()`, and `clone_item()`
face an issue where they may be defined in a descendant class
(e.g., `Item_func`) but not in a further descendant (e.g., `Item_func_child`).
This can lead to scenarios where `build_clone()`, when operating on an
instance of `Item_func_child` with a pointer to the base class (`Item`),
returns an instance of `Item_func` instead of `Item_func_child`.

Since this limitation cannot be resolved at compile time, this commit
introduces runtime type checks for the copy/clone operations.
A debug assertion will now trigger in case of a type mismatch.

`get_copy()`, `build_clone()`, and `clone_item()` are no more virtual,
but virtual `do_get_copy()`, `do_build_clone()`, and `do_clone_item()`
are added to the protected section of the class `Item`.

Additionally, const qualifiers have been added to certain methods
to enhance code reliability.

001f93df2b MDEV-12668 SRID is not preserved in UNION, VIEW, MIN, MAX
Fixing the problem that an operation involving a mix of
two or more GEOMETRY operands did not preserve their SRIDs.
Now SRIDs are preserved by hybrid functions, subqueries, TVCs, UNIONs, VIEWs.

Incompatible change:
  An attempt to mix two different SRIDs now raises an error.

Details:

- Adding a new class Type_extra_attributes. It's a generic
  container which can store very specific data type attributes.
  For now it can store one uint32 and one const pointer attribute
  (for GEOMETRY's SRID and for ENUM/SET TYPELIB respectively).
  In the future it can grow as needed.

  Type_extra_attributes will also be reused soon to store "const Type_zone*"
  pointers for the TIMESTAMP's "WITH TIME ZONE 'tz'" attribute
  (a timestamp data type with a fixed time zone independent from @@time_zone).
  The time zone attribute will be stored in exactly the same way like
  a TYPELIB pointer is stored by ENUM/SET.

- Removing Column_definition_attributes members "interval" and "srid".
  Deriving Column_definition_attributes from the generic attribute container
  Type_extra_attributes instead.

- Adding a new class Type_typelib_attributes, to store
  the TYPELIB of the ENUM and SET data types. Deriving Field_enum from it.
  Removing the member Field_enum::typelib.

- Adding a new class Type_geom_attributes, to store
  the GEOMETRY related attributes. Deriving Field_geom from it.
  Removing the member Field_geom::srid.

- Removing virtual methods:
    Field::get_typelib()
    Type_all_attributes::get_typelib() and
    Type_all_attributes::set_typelib()
  They were very specific to TYPELIB.
  Adding more generic virtual methods instead:
  * Field::type_extra_attributes() - to get extra attributes
  * Type_all_attributes::type_extra_attributes() - to get extra attributes
  * Type_all_attributes::type_extra_attributes_addr() - to set extra attributes

- Removing Item_type_holder::enum_set_typelib. Deriving Item_type_holder
  from the generic attribute container Type_extra_attributes instead.
  This makes it possible for UNION to preserve SRID
  (in addition to preserving TYPELIB).

- Deriving Item_hybrid_func from Type_extra_attributes.
  This makes it possible for hybrid functions (e.g. CASE, COALESCE,
  LEAST, GREATEST etc) to preserve SRID.

- Deriving Item_singlerow_subselect from Type_extra_attributes and
  overriding methods:
  * Item_cache::type_extra_attributes()
  * subselect_single_select_engine::fix_length_and_dec()
  * Item_singlerow_subselect::type_extra_attributes()
  * Item_singlerow_subselect::type_extra_attributes_addr()
  This is needed to preserve SRID in subqueries and TVCs

- Cleanup: fixing the data type of members
  * Binlog_type_info::m_enum_typelib
  * Binlog_type_info::m_set_typelib
  from "TYPELIB *" to "const TYPELIB *"

208ed0d8c6 MDEV-32324: Server crashes inside filesort at my_decimal::to_binary
A subquery in form "(SELECT not_null_value LIMIT 1 OFFSET 1)" will
produce no rows which will translate into scalar SQL NULL value.

The code in Item_singlerow_subselect::fix_length_and_dec() failed to
take the LIMIT/OFFSET clause into account and used to set
item_subselect->maybe_null=0, despite that SQL NULL will be produced.

If such subselect was used in ORDER BY, this would cause a crash in
filesort() code when it would get a NULL value for a not-nullable item.

also made subselect_engine::no_tables() const function.

08c852026d Apply clang-tidy to remove empty constructors / destructors
This patch is the result of running
run-clang-tidy -fix -header-filter=.* -checks='-*,modernize-use-equals-default' .

Code style changes have been done on top. The result of this change
leads to the following improvements:

1. Binary size reduction.
* For a -DBUILD_CONFIG=mysql_release build, the binary size is reduced by
  ~400kb.
* A raw -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release reduces the binary size by ~1.4kb.

2. Compiler can better understand the intent of the code, thus it leads
   to more optimization possibilities. Additionally it enabled detecting
   unused variables that had an empty default constructor but not marked
   so explicitly.

   Particular change required following this patch in sql/opt_range.cc

   result_keys, an unused template class Bitmap now correctly issues
   unused variable warnings.

   Setting Bitmap template class constructor to default allows the compiler
   to identify that there are no side-effects when instantiating the class.
   Previously the compiler could not issue the warning as it assumed Bitmap
   class (being a template) would not be performing a NO-OP for its default
   constructor. This prevented the "unused variable warning".
