FILE_OPTIONS_STRING was disabled for 10.11.20 by MDEV-40484.
Use FILE_OPTIONS_ESTRING for the remaining fields (md5,
charset names never contain escaped characters).
escape user and host names in view frm
in fact, there is no reason to write any field as is, unescaped,
so let's remove FILE_OPTIONS_STRING in the next release
1.
Only allow #mysql50# prefix on table names that
can not be decoded from a file name to a table name.
It is an error to put this prefix on a name that can be accessed
as a valid table name without a prefix. Use `t1` not `#mysql50#t1`,
use `a-b` not `#mysql50#a@002db`.
2.
Don't allow creation of new tables with the #mysql50# prefix.
Except when in SQLCOM_ALTER_DB_UPGRADE - main.upgrade test runs
ALTER DATABASE `#mysql50#mysqltest-1` UPGRADE DATA DIRECTORY NAME;
This command moves tables from the old db name to the new db name,
and some of these tables also have old #mysql50# names.
3.
Also don't allow to create such databases, views, partitions,
subpartitions, sequences, triggers.
Remove the unscoped #pragma GCC diagnostic ignored
"-Wdeprecated-declarations" from include/violite.h and replace all
sprintf/vsprintf calls with snprintf/vsnprintf across the codebase.
Where possible, pass actual buffer sizes as function parameters
instead of using hardcoded constants or recomputing strlen().
Notable API changes:
- get_date(): added to_len parameter for buffer size
- nice_time(), end_timer() in client/mysql.cc: added buff_size
- generate_new_name(): added name_size parameter
- calc_md5(): added buffer_size parameter (fixes off-by-one)
- MD5_HASH_TO_STRING macro: added _size parameter
- Added MYSQL_UDF_MAX_RESULT_LENGTH constant in mysql_com.h
Also fixed a pre-existing bug in sql/rpl_mi.cc where the ellipsis
"..." was written to the wrong buffer (dbuff instead of buff).
Vendored code is excluded: extra/readline, extra/wolfssl,
wsrep-lib, libmariadb, storage/mroonga/vendor, zlib.
Originally two MDL_EXCLUSIVE are used for pure alias of derived table
and its schema which is empty db name. It is concurrency performance
overhead and there is no obvious reason why such MDL should exist.
MDEV-33985 changed pure alias check from `db.str` to `db.length` and
that allowed `empty_c_string` to be pure alias too. It is important
for MDEV-33985 fix with sequences. Now such kind of pure alias skips
MDL initialization and thus derived table fails falsely on BACKUP
namespace as it is default namespace for 0-filled structure (see TODO
comments).
The fix a) keeps MDL_NOT_INITIALIZED for uninitialized MDL and that
was the consequence of MDL_INTENTION_EXCLUSIVE value 0 (see TODO
comment).
And b) does not update MDL type for pure alias when view is
initialized, so it is MDL_NOT_INITIALIZED. `lock_table_names()` code
naturally skips such kind of MDL with (mdl_request.type <
MDL_SHARED_UPGRADABLE) condition when processing tables list.
Optimization in st_select_lex_unit::prepare() removes ORDER BY for
certain subqueries. That excludes ORDER BY items from being fixed, but
sl->window_funcs still contains window function items and those
related to optimized out ORDER BY are unfixed. The error about missing
window spec is thrown when the item is fixed. Hence we get redundant
processing of window function items without checking window spec
existence.
The fix removes the related window function items when ORDER BY is
optimized out. ORDER accumulates window_funcs at parser stage which
are then removed from SELECT_LEX::window_funcs. The fix also updates
similar optimization in mysql_make_view().
MDEV-28650 (7a88776dc1) fixed the case when the DEFAULT flag is
inside the table definition but it can be also in DML command. When we
assign it from the table definition in mysql_make_view() we lose it in
the current command.
The fix does disjunction assignment to keep both values. It is
signalling DML_prelocking_strategy::handle_table() to call
add_internal_tables(), so it will correctly open associated sequence
table.
default_used was missing as view is parsed on its own
lex. extend_table_list() decides maybe_need_prelocking based on
default_used and prelocking_strategy->handle_table() was skipped for
view, so internal_tables was not updated (they could be stale from
previous statement).
Problem was incorrect handling of partitioned tables,
because db_type == DB_TYPE_PARTITION_DB
wsrep_should_replicate_ddl incorrectly marked
DDL as not replicatable. However, in partitioned
tables we should check implementing storage engine
from table->file->partition_ht() if available because
if partition handler is InnoDB all DDL should be allowed
even with wsrep_strict_ddl. For other storage engines
DDL should not be allowed and error should be issued.
This is 10.5 version of the fix.

If a query contained a CTE whose name coincided with the name of one of
the base tables used in the specification of the CTE and the query had at
least two references to this CTE in the specifications of other CTEs then
processing of the query led to unlimited recursion that ultimately caused
a crash of the server.
Any secondary non-recursive reference to a CTE requires creation of a copy
of the CTE specification. All the references to CTEs in this copy must be
resolved. If the specification contains a reference to a base table whose
name coincides with the name of then CTE then it should be ensured that
this reference in no way can be resolved against the name of the CTE.
This patch is actually follow-up for the task
MDEV-23902: MariaDB crash on calling function
to use correct query arena for a statement. In case invocation of
a function is in progress use its call arena, else use current
query arena that can be either a statement or a regular query arena.
The crash happened with an indexed virtual column whose
value is evaluated using a function that has a different meaning
in sql_mode='' vs sql_mode=ORACLE:
- DECODE()
- LTRIM()
- RTRIM()
- LPAD()
- RPAD()
- REPLACE()
- SUBSTR()
For example:
CREATE TABLE t1 (
b VARCHAR(1),
g CHAR(1) GENERATED ALWAYS AS (SUBSTR(b,0,0)) VIRTUAL,
KEY g(g)
);
So far we had replacement XXX_ORACLE() functions for all mentioned function,
e.g. SUBSTR_ORACLE() for SUBSTR(). So it was possible to correctly re-parse
SUBSTR_ORACLE() even in sql_mode=''.
But it was not possible to re-parse the MariaDB version of SUBSTR()
after switching to sql_mode=ORACLE. It was erroneously mis-interpreted
as SUBSTR_ORACLE().
As a result, this combination worked fine:
SET sql_mode=ORACLE;
CREATE TABLE t1 ... g CHAR(1) GENERATED ALWAYS AS (SUBSTR(b,0,0)) VIRTUAL, ...;
INSERT ...
FLUSH TABLES;
SET sql_mode='';
INSERT ...
But the other way around it crashed:
SET sql_mode='';
CREATE TABLE t1 ... g CHAR(1) GENERATED ALWAYS AS (SUBSTR(b,0,0)) VIRTUAL, ...;
INSERT ...
FLUSH TABLES;
SET sql_mode=ORACLE;
INSERT ...
At CREATE time, SUBSTR was instantiated as Item_func_substr and printed
in the FRM file as substr(). At re-open time with sql_mode=ORACLE, "substr()"
was erroneously instantiated as Item_func_substr_oracle.
Fix:
The fix proposes a symmetric solution. It provides a way to re-parse reliably
all sql_mode dependent functions to their original CREATE TABLE time meaning,
no matter what the open-time sql_mode is.
We take advantage of the same idea we previously used to resolve sql_mode
dependent data types.
Now all sql_mode dependent functions are printed by SHOW using a schema
qualifier when the current sql_mode differs from the function sql_mode:
SET sql_mode='';
CREATE TABLE t1 ... SUBSTR(a,b,c) ..;
SET sql_mode=ORACLE;
SHOW CREATE TABLE t1; -> mariadb_schema.substr(a,b,c)
SET sql_mode=ORACLE;
CREATE TABLE t2 ... SUBSTR(a,b,c) ..;
SET sql_mode='';
SHOW CREATE TABLE t1; -> oracle_schema.substr(a,b,c)
Old replacement names like substr_oracle() are still understood for
backward compatibility and used in FRM files (for downgrade compatibility),
but they are not printed by SHOW any more.
- Moved view checks after privilege tables are fixed. This is to avoid
warnings about wrongly defined mysql.proc when checking views.
- Don't use stat tables before they have been fixed.
- Don't run mysql_fix_view() if 'FOR MYSQL' is used if the view is
already a MariaDB view.
- Added 'FOR UPGRADE' as an option for 'REPAIR VIEW' to be able to
detect if the REPAIR command comes from mariadb_upgrade. In this
case we get a warning, instead of an error, if a definer of a view
does not exists.
This bug could cause a crash of the server when processing a query with
ROWNUM() if it used in its FROM list a reference to a mergeable view
defined as SELECT over more than one table that contained ORDER BY clause.
When a mergeable view with ORDER BY clause and without LIMIT clause is used
in the FROM list of a query that does not have ORDER BY clause the ORDER BY
clause of the view is moved to the query. The code that performed this
transformation forgot to delete the moved ORDER BY list from the view.
If a query contains ROWNUM() and uses a mergeable multi-table view with
ORDER BY then according to the current code of TABLE_LIST::init_derived()
the view has to be forcibly materialized. As the query and the view shared
the same items in its ORDER BY lists they could not be properly resolved
either in the query or in the view. This led to a crash of the server.
This patch has returned back the original signature of LEX::can_not_use_merged()
to comply with 10.4 code of the condition that checks whether a megeable
view has to be forcibly materialized.

Subselect_single_value_engine cannot handle table value constructor used as
subquery. That's why any table value constructor TVC used as subquery is
converted into a select over derived table whose specification is TVC.
Currently the names of the columns of the derived table DT are taken from
the first element of TVC and if the k-th component of the element happens
to be a subquery the text representation of this subquery serves as the
name of the k-th column of the derived table. References of all columns of
the derived table DT compose the select list of the result of the conversion.
If a definition of a view contained a table value constructor used as a
subquery and the view was registered after this conversion had been
applied we could register an invalid view definition if the first element
of TVC contained a subquery as its component: the name of this component
was taken from the original subquery, while the name of the corresponding
column of the derived table was taken from the text representation of the
subquery produced by the function SELECT_LEX::print() and these names were
usually differ from each other.
To avoid registration of such invalid views the function SELECT_LEX::print()
now prints the original TVC instead of the select in which this TVC has
been wrapped. Now the specification of registered view looks like as if no
conversions from TVC to selects were done.

Read the version of the view share when we read definition to prevent
simultaniouse access to a view table SHARE (and so its MEM_ROOT)
from different threads.
The problem is that if table definition cache (TDC) is full of real tables
which are in tables cache, view definition can not stay there so will be
removed by its own underlying tables.
In situation above old mechanism of detection matching definition in PS
and current version always require reprepare and so prevent executing
the PS.
One work around is to increase TDC, other - improve version check for
views/triggers (which is done here). Now in suspicious cases we check:
- timestamp (microseconds) of the view to be sure that version really
have changed;
- time (microseconds) of creation of a trigger related to time
(microseconds) of statement preparation.
