b4fde50b1f MDEV-5798: Wrong errorcode for missing partition after TRUNCATE PARTITION
The partitioning error handling code was looking at
thd->lex->alter_info.partition_flags in non-alter-table cases, in which cases
the value is stale and contains whatever was set by any earlier ALTER TABLE.
This could cause the wrong error code to be generated, which then in some cases
can cause replication to break with "different errorcode" error.

68938d2b42 MDEV-33500 (part 2): rpl.rpl_parallel_sbm can still fail
The failing test case validates Seconds_Behind_Master for a delayed
slave, while STOP SLAVE is executed during a delay. The test fixes
initially added to the test (commit b04c857596) added a table lock
to ensure a transaction could not finish before validating the
Seconds_Behind_Master field after SLAVE START, but did not address a
possibility that the transaction could finish before running the
STOP SLAVE command, which invalidates the validations for the rest
of the test case. Specifically, this would result in 1) a timeout in
“Waiting for table metadata lock” on the replica, which expects the
transaction to retry after slave restart and hit a lock conflict on
the locked tables (added in b04c857596), and 2) that
Seconds_Behind_Master should have increased, but did not.

The failure can be reproduced by synchronizing the slave to the master
before the MDEV-32265 echo statement (i.e. before the SLAVE STOP).

This patch fixes the test by adding a mechanism to use DEBUG_SYNC to
synchronize a MASTER_DELAY, rather than continually increase the
duration of the delay each time the test fails on buildbot. This is
to ensure that on slow machines, a delay does not pass before the
test gets a chance to validate results. Additionally, it decreases
overall test time because the test can continue immediately after
validation, thereby bypassing the remainder of a full delay for each
transaction.

567c097359 MDEV-33582 Add more warnings to be able to better diagnose network issues
Warnings are added to net_server.cc when
global_system_variables.log_warnings >= 4.

When the above condition holds then:
- All communication errors from net_serv.cc is also written to the
  error log.
- In case of a of not being able to read or write a packet, a more
  detailed error is given.

Other things:
- Added detection of slaves that has hangup to Ack_receiver::run()
- vio_close() is now first marking the socket closed before closing it.
The reason for this is to ensure that the connection that gets a read
error can check if the reason was that the socket was closed.
- Add a new state to vio to be able to detect if vio is acive, shutdown or
closed. This is used to detect if socket is closed by another thread.
- Testing of the new warnings is done in rpl_get_lock.test
- Suppress some of the new warnings in mtr to allow one to run some of
the tests with -mysqld=--log-warnings=4. All test in the 'rpl' suite
can now be run with this option.
 - Ensure that global.log_warnings are restored at test end in a way
that allows one to use mtr --mysqld=--log-warnings=4.

d039346a7a MDEV-4991: GTID binlog indexing
Improve the performance of slave connect using B+-Tree indexes on each binlog
file. The index allows fast lookup of a GTID position to the corresponding
offset in the binlog file, as well as lookup of a position to find the
corresponding GTID position.

This eliminates a costly sequential scan of the starting binlog file
to find the GTID starting position when a slave connects. This is
especially costly if the binlog file is not cached in memory (IO
cost), or if it is encrypted or a lot of slaves connect simultaneously
(CPU cost).

The size of the index files is generally less than 1% of the binlog data, so
not expected to be an issue.

Most of the work writing the index is done as a background task, in
the binlog background thread. This minimises the performance impact on
transaction commit. A simple global mutex is used to protect index
reads and (background) index writes; this is fine as slave connect is
a relatively infrequent operation.

Here are the user-visible options and status variables. The feature is on by
default and is expected to need no tuning or configuration for most users.

binlog_gtid_index
On by default. Can be used to disable the indexes for testing purposes.

binlog_gtid_index_page_size (default 4096)
Page size to use for the binlog GTID index. This is the size of the nodes
in the B+-tree used internally in the index. A very small page-size (64 is
the minimum) will be less efficient, but can be used to stress the
  BTree-code during testing.

binlog_gtid_index_span_min (default 65536)
Control sparseness of the binlog GTID index. If set to N, at most one
index record will be added for every N bytes of binlog file written.
This can be used to reduce the number of records in the index, at
the cost only of having to scan a few more events in the binlog file
  before finding the target position

Two status variables are available to monitor the use of the GTID indexes:

  Binlog_gtid_index_hit
  Binlog_gtid_index_miss

The "hit" status increments for each successful lookup in a GTID index.
The "miss" increments when a lookup is not possible. This indicates that the
index file is missing (eg. binlog written by old server version
without GTID index support), or corrupt.

ea4bcb9d98 MDEV-32168: slave_error_param condition is never checked from the wait_for_slave_param.inc
Fix some random test failures following MDEV-32168 push.

Don't blindly set $rpl_only_running_threads in many places. Instead explicit
stop only the IO or SQL thread, as appropriate. Setting it interfered with
rpl_end.inc in some cases. Rather than clearing it afterwards, better to
not set it at all when it is not needed, removing ambiguity in the test
about the state of the replication threads.

Don't fail the test if include/stop_slave_io.inc finds an error in the IO
thread after stop. Such errors can be simply because slave stop happened in
the middle of the IO thread's initial communication with the master.

0258ad545a MDEV-32168: slave_error_param condition is never checked from the wait_for_slave_param.inc
Fix wrong change to rpl.rpl_shutdown_wait_slaves. After shutting down the
master, slaves may or may not succeed in reconnecting depending on the timing
on their reconnect relative to master restart. So don't assume all IO threads
will be running, just restart any slave that needs it.

0c1bf5e247 MDEV-27247: Add keywords "SQL_BEFORE_GTIDS" and "SQL_AFTER_GTIDS" for START SLAVE UNTIL
New Feature:
============
This patch extends the START SLAVE UNTIL command with options
SQL_BEFORE_GTIDS and SQL_AFTER_GTIDS to allow user control of
whether the replica stops before or after a provided GTID state. Its
syntax is:

START SLAVE UNTIL (SQL_BEFORE_GTIDS|SQL_AFTER_GTIDS)=”<gtid_list>”

When providing SQL_BEFORE_GTIDS=”<gtid_list>”, for each domain
specified in the gtid_list, the replica will execute transactions up
to the GTID found, and immediately stop processing events in that
domain (without executing the transaction of the specified GTID).
Once all domains have stopped, the replica will stop. Events
originating from domains that are not specified in the list are not
replicated.

START SLAVE UNTIL SQL_AFTER_GTIDS=”<gtid_list>” is an alias to the
default behavior of START SLAVE UNTIL master_gtid_pos=”<gtid_list>”.
That is, the replica will only execute transactions originating from
domain ids provided in the list, and will stop once all transactions
provided in the UNTIL list have all been executed.

Example:
=========
If a primary server has a binary log consisting of the following GTIDs:

0-1-1
1-1-1
0-1-2
1-1-2
0-1-3
1-1-3

If a fresh replica (i.e. one with an empty GTID position,
@@gtid_slave_pos='') is started with SQL_BEFORE_GTIDS, i.e.

START SLAVE UNTIL SQL_BEFORE_GTIDS=”1-1-2”

The resulting gtid_slave_pos of the replica will be “1-1-1”.
This is because the replica will execute only events from domain 1
until it sees the transaction with sequence number 2, and
immediately stop without executing it.

If the replica is started with SQL_AFTER_GTIDS, i.e.

START SLAVE UNTIL SQL_AFTER_GTIDS=”1-1-2”

then the resulting gtid_slave_pos of the replica will be “1-1-2”.
This is because it will only execute events from domain 1 until it
has executed the provided GTID.

5f206259e5 MDEV-30985 Replica stops with error on ALTER ONLINE with Geometry Types
The bug is inherent for row-based replication as well.
To reproduce, a virtual (not stored) field of a blob type computed from
another field of a different blob type is required.

The following happens during an update or delete row event:
1. A row is unpacked.
2. Virtual fields are updated. Field b1 stores the pointer in
Field_blob::value and references it in table->record[0].
3. record[0] is stored to record[1] in Rows_log_event::find_row.
4. A new record is fetched from handler. (e.g. ha_rnd_next)
5. Virtual columns are updated (only non-stored).
6. Field b1 receives new value. Old value is deallocated
   (Field_blob::val_str).
7. record_compare is called. record[0] and record[1] are compared.
8. record[1] contains a reference to a freed value.

record_compare is used in replication to find a matching record for update
or delete. Virtual columns that are not stored should be definitely skipped
both for correctness, and for this bug fix.

STORED virtual columns, on the other hand, may be required and shouldn't be
skipped. Stored columns are not affected, since they are not updated after
handler's fetch.
